Here is what people are saying about the Child of Faerie, Child of Earth
"Lovely story about a friendship that transcends boundaries" | 2009-07-14 |

| What a delightful find! My 4.5-year-old preschooler loves all things faerie and when we came across this book at the library, I was immensely pleased! The story has an interesting premise - what if a child of faerie, which is refreshingly portrayed as a boy here, and a child of earth, a human girl, should meet and become friends? Well, each take turns visiting the other's world, but when asked by the other to stay, i.e. the human girl is asked to remain in the fairy world, and the fairy boy is asked to remain in the human world, they each politely decline, for they are most comfortable in their natural environment. Will that spell the doom of their friendship? The ending is uplifting and heartwarming and sends out a clear message: whatever our differences, we can still be friends - friendship is a universal gift that transcends all boundaries. The illustrations are beautiful -both the fairy world and the human world. Highly recommended! |

| The artwork is stunning. The poetry is magical. I love this book. When I gave away my copy to a friend who just had a baby, my kids were incensed, so I bought three copies... one for me and one for each of them. We all love it. The final frame with the grownups is priceless. |

| I discovered this book in a class about writing children's books. While I have read many books by Jane Yolen, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite Yolen books with a poem as text. The poetry is intricate yet appears simple. This is a story that must be read aloud, simply to delight in the rhythm and the story. The illustrations are stunning, accentuating an already wonderful story. I strongly recommend this book for children, particularly in a read aloud setting. I also recommend this book for adults who love all things faerie or who appreciate a sweet tale that almost sings. |

This is a nice story. A sweet look at a fairy child and an "earth" child and their friendship from childhood into old age.

"Outstanding Bedtime Book for kids" | 2006-11-29 |

| As a father with a persistently open mind and a background in comparative mythology I was looking for stories and bedtime readings that encourage open thought when it comes to spiritual life. I have to say this is an outstanding book in that regard. Great visuals and good spiritual concepts without being biased one way or another. Great for a 4-7 year old I would think. My daughter is 6 and it's one of her favorites. |
