Siju Bruce Lee the legendary martial artist and philosopher on his first and only treatised on the art he created, the jeet kune do. there were many very good books in JKD but this is the best of the best and it is written by the originator. Siju Bruce Lee was the first international recognized martial artist who was very vocal on what are the real things happen in unarmed self defense. He is the one who said what is really working in real situation and what is not as you will learned on this book. many martial arts experts are saying that our system is the best, but Siju tells us that there is no best system of martial art but only a better practitioner, as we seen on MMA fighting and many different self defense system. unfortunately Siju Bruce Lee died on early age before his philisophies were international recognized and accepted. If u want to learned what really JKD is all about, this is the book to be studied and because this book lacks pictures on how the tecniques have been done, many so called JKD practitioner used the name JKD just to promote their art and interpretation on what the book actually teached. this book is like a "BIBLE" of unarmed fighting, you will learned through your own understanding and interpretation on the written techniques and philosophies of unarmed combat. a 5 star rating (or is there any more higher than 5?)were given for the great SIJU BRUCE LEE.

Complicated but good for a dedicated martial artist looking to learn the ways of Jeet Kune Do. I bought this book looking for a less complex look into Bruce Lee's style. If you are not a practicing martial artist, then you wont get far into this book without being overwhelmed with diagrams.

I love Bruce Lee, but I couldnt get into this book! I cant honestly tell you to read it or not, because I havent! I bought it here at Amazon and gave it away a month later! Watch "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story", thats a classic!

I came into this world many years later since Lee had closed his eyes upon it. I can only imagine the loss it must have been to the world to Martial Arts. But, he never left in spirit. An essence of his philosophy and his approach to martial arts still lives through his followers and this book. I learnt Aikido for 5 years, but found it not very handy when it came to tackling an opponent in the street. That's when someone recommended Lee to me. JKD is much faster and more practical (make no mistake, I still worship Aikido from bottom of my heart...JKD is only a natural next step in the route I took for my education in Martial Arts) when it comes to handling a situation in the street. But this book is not a step-by-step guide to beat someone black and blue. It's Lee's philosophy, his approach to martial arts (which is called Jeet Kun Do) - a way of life, from Lee's perspective. I am only qualified to speak so much, but definitely recommend this book for everyone who wishes to understand Lee's apparoach to Martial Arts and, in turn, benifit from it to develop his or her own perspective.

no style is new--- This book shows the research of Bruce lee's personally preferred fighting methods. it is of course incomplete. Covers modern boxing, trapping, kicking and yes even grappling. As well as his philosophy. The JKD stance worked for Bruce, same as a square stance works for Bas (book does not cover square stance). Will it work for you? Try it and see. P.S. You will also notice the corkscrew punch is the same punch employed by fedor and liddell. Bruce didn't invent the punch, but he used it. --- no style is better.
