| Listining to this alum is to the ears what eating sour nails is to the mouth, and it feels so good. The music is fantastic and the lyrics are brilliant. Courtney Love is one of the most under rated lyracists of our time. |

| Out of all the albums, this is clearly the most raw, Live Through This should be about a balance between this and Celebrity Skin. Courtney has a great voice, a truly unique voice that not many can copy. This cd is full of rage, really it's a good cd to listen to if you've had not so good of a day. It's also an extremely addictive cd...I don't know how I lived without it. It's too bad Hole usually doesn't get the credit they deserve. |

| Heavy, raw and open; this CD really blows away any of the so called "Riot Grrls." A lot of kids want "Punk Rock" but they want it as a suburban commodity, nice and pretty and clean. These songs are angry, pissed off, dirty and ooze with female bombast. This is a classic CD and when the smoke clears, you will see that this is grungier and nastier than Nirvana or other so called grunge bands. |

| Pretty on The Inside is out there and raw, its a very different album from Live Through This and Celebrity Skin (but all three are very different from each other), its good but it you can't listen to it all at once and expect to like it, it takes multiple listens. |

| Holes debut album 'Pretty on the inside ' is by far [in my opinion] the best album they put out , its a hurricane of rage , pushing every button until theres nothing left to push. As soon as the album starts it immediatly pulls you in , and takes you for a violent ride in which theres no slowing down , no time to catch your breath . Your shot through Courtneys world of sex , rage , desperation , denial ,pain and turmoil all through a haze of smoke . This is definitly the most raw of all their albums and it shows that they were better off [musically] pre-Kurt Cobain. There is no soft [poppy] spot on this album , which is what makes it truly extraordinairy , i agree with the reviewer who says theres no other band like HOLE in the 00's and this was an amazing start, as much as i love the other albums i wish they would have stayed on the in-your-face path that they started out on in Pretty on the inside. |

This is not pretty. When I first listened to this CD, I was blown away by how angry it is. "Celebrity Skin" was the first Hole CD I bought, and this was the second. Quite a difference, but that proves that Hole is a talented group, because they can branch out without losing music quality. This album is totally unbalanced because there are no softer or in the middle songs. Every song is full force rage. And sometimes it is totally necessary to have an album like that. This remains one of my favorites. You won't find anything else that comes close to "Pretty on the Inside."
~The Songs~
1. TEENAGE WHORE- a snarling start 2. BABYDOLL- long song with great lyrics "drill it in my good hole so that I can see" 3. GARBADGE MAN- best song on the album, courtney proves she can scream well 4. SASSY- interesting mix of sounds and screams 5. GOODSISTER/BADSISTER- more poetic lyrics "choking on your candy flesh" 6. MRS. JONES- abortion song, courtney was singing from experience 7. BERRY- "when I die won't you bury me" very uplifting, love it, my favorite line is the last one about falling for the garbage man 8. LOADED- "don't blush when I rip you open" some more really good lyrics, no denying she can write 9. STARBELLY- nice assortment, even has some Fleetwood Mac lyrics 10. PRETTY ON THE INSIDE- short and sweet, simple lyrics and harsh "ugly" screaming 11. CLOUDS- perfect ending song, slightly toned down, but still brash enough to fit in |

"Very good Hole, though not Live Through This" | 2005-07-29 |

| There's only one way to describe this album; raw. "Pretty on The Inside" is unlike any other Hole album, mainly due to its sleazy, raw power and violent lyrics. When first listening to the album, Courtney holds out her hand then yanks you down into her druggy, violent underground. You can't help but keep following her into the depths of the record. Things start of good with "Teenage Whore" one of the album's best. Lyrics like, "When I was a teenage whore, my mother asked me baby what for?" allow the listener to glimpse at Courtney's troubled past. Other tracks such as "Berry" and "Garbadge Man" rock and prove to be greats. Though the guitars and Courtney's vocals can be sloppy at times, you realize after a few times listening that that's what Hole had set out to do, make an intense album that leaves no room for mercy. It takes a true Hole fan to appreciate this album, because it's definitely not "Live Through This", because it lacks all the clever pop hooks and engaging lyrics. Yet, if you are a fan of Hole, or grunge rock in general, try out "Pretty on The Inside". |

this cd is way more hardocre then "celebrity skin" and "live through this" but its great. that is one thing i really like ab;out them. each of their cd's is unique. celebrity skin is softer, live through this is the middle, and this is hard. i love it. i only wish they would come back together to make another cd. i cant get enough of them. |
