| this is a great EP. very raw and primal but still shows great skills in writing in this genre, as the garage rock genre is very riff based. i would give it a 5 out of 5 but i think the EP lacks consistancy and flow, as it starts off very rock and roll, then goes heavy, then finishes with almost a ballad. definately a well thought out EP. |

| I think this EP has a lot of character. Normally I would only give something like this 3 stars because the musicianship isn't very mature or individualistic, but I give this an extra star for personality and interesting production value. Sounds a lot like the White Stripes, but less provincial and more worldly. I suppose that's the New Yorker element. |

i cannot believe so many people are ripping on the yeahyeahyeahs. i have to conclude that they have bad taste. VERY bad taste. either that, or they're the type of people who have to gripe about something just because it's popular. but i digress. karen o. gives me hope for the future of music. i actually prefer this ep to their full-length release: songs like "maps" and "modern romance" seem a little schmaltzy to me. as always, karen o's howling, moaning, and screaming as if she's in the midst of the most fantastic orgasm of her life is a delight to listen to. the album literally starts with a "bang," then progresses on into the surf rock riffs of "mystery girl." "art star," perhaps my favorite track, is a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the pretentious participants of the art world that starts off monotone and ends in throat-wrenching screams. so, while i agree that in many ways, this band brings nothing new to the table in terms of indy and alternative music, it definitely holds up a fine tradition of hard-rocking bands (like siouxsie and the banshees, as another reviewer pointed out.) with so much pop crap out there, it's nice to know that some bands can still rock out. |

| take any group, and search long enough and you'll find something that sounds similar. The Yeah Yeah Yeah's belong to a genre of music that is long established, definitely nothing new, but they have their own distinct sound and personality. So before you decide to share any more of your stupid comparisons please first realize that they'll be irrelevant, cause you just don't know your stuff kid. |

I got this EP after I heard "Fever to tell" and I was pleasently surprised. It puts all their other songs into context, brings their musical style back to basics with a rawer indie sound.Karen O's voice is fantastic. She varies from a cute kitten purr to a demented shriek often in the space of one song, and her voice is what make the band special. "Bang" is the perfect opener to the album with its wonderfull jerky guitar riff, and sex filled lyrics setting the tone for the next 14 minutes. "Mystery Girl" proves the band capable of a steady rock'n roll number, and "Art Star", my favourite, contains all the elements which make the Yeah Yeah Yeahs such a great band;the inspired guitar riffs, versitial vocals, and punk sensibility. Not to mention the pop catchiness in all those "doos". As a guitarist, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have a lot of appeal for me because of Nick Zinner's exellent guitar work. Just listen to the riff in "Miles Away" and the way his guitar parts sometimes echoe the lyrics. "Our time" is the closest thing to a slow song on the EP,and showcases the Yeah Yeah Yeahs potential for writing emotive and sincere songs like "maps" on "Fever to Tell". I would recommend that anyone who enjoyed "Fever to Tell" buy this record as it condences the Yeah Yeah Yeahs sound into 5 slices of brilliance.A fine introduction or definition of the band. |

| This album rocks my socks over and over. I can't help but listen to it every day. With Karen O croons odd voice, it makes the band very origional. And just the fact that it has a female single makes me happy. Great beats. A must have for everyone. :) |

Q: Hyped? A: OVER HYPED! How can a band not even release their first e.p. and be in every magazine? Oh yeah. have a really really sexy lead singer that is a girl whose style is trashy and rock-n-roll. and then play shows with media hypesters the strokes and the white stripes.that being said, are the YYY's worth your time and money? YES!!! The first song "bang" is perfect. This is worth the cost of the e.p. It is a very sexy song that introduces you to Karen O in a good way. The minute you hear you'll want to know more about her and what she eats and where she sleeps. This is true whether your male or female. She puts a total spell on you. Its a very jitter thunderous song. The rest of the songs on here are great except for "art star" which is annoying because it is a grind song with this horrible pop chorus that will make you scratch your head. the YYY's add a fresh face to this media hyped rock revial. hype well deserved. |

| I got the Machine EP and this one as Christmas gifts without having heard any of either, and they ROCK! I think we can expect great things from this band that's more about substance than some of the "garage rock" that's been popularized lately, such as the Vines. Karen O is the most intriguing female rocker since Debbie Harry, and has her talent to boot. Can't wait for the full-length release this year. |

The first time I read about this band, I searched the web and found their website, where I then listened to "Art Star" over and over and over for about 20x. I became hooked on that song about as fast as I've ever fallen for anything, the acidic yet cute and endearing screaming immediately followed by the equally endearing "who me I didn't scream" doot-doot's, like eating wonderfully spicy cajun food and then chasing it down with ice-cold beer, again and again. Listening to these songs provides me the kind of visceral satisfaction that I get from diving into a heaping plate of BBQ'd ribs, getting sauce all over my fingers and face and I just don't care, that's how good this music is. I wasn't around when Elvis Presley hit the scene, but I suppose that's what his music sounded like to the kids of that era - an invasion of irresistable, rootsy, raunchy rock and roll. No, it's not pretty. But then again, neither is eating a plate of BBQ'd ribs, and when did 'not pretty' ever stop you from eating ribs? |
