I heard All Right Here before Conversations, though Conversations came out first. While I'm glad to see that Sara grew and evolved into something wonderful (All Right Here) and that I heard the better CD first, I'm not impressed with her older works. I would not have picked up any of her other music if I had heard this first.
Perhaps I am a rare Christian, but mainstream "God this/God that" music doesn't interest me - it all sounds the same, making it feel bland, repetitive, and in a way, depressing. There are some Christian musicians who figure out how to do Christian music right...Jennifer Knapp, for instance. Or Sara Groves in All Right here. |

| Sara challenges our thinking as we go through life looking for help and answers and our Bible sits there on the shelf... One of her songs is about Eve, and how prone we are to be like her and not make very healthy choices. One song enourages us to go slow and think through our choices, for generations will reap what we sow. It is important to think of what we are leaving to our grandchildren, the results of our choices. |

In a world where most music has settled into a common sound, Sara Groves reaches upward and succeeds in producing some of the best spiritual melodies I've ever heard.
Conversations is Groves' debut album, and the depth and quality of her work alludes to the true inspiration for her work: Jesus Christ. As with all good ministry, Conversations reveals itself slowly. On the first listen, the beautiful melodies feel fresh and yet somehow familiar. Subsequent listens begin to peel away the layers of Groves' inspired lyrics. Each time you listen to this album, you'll come away inspired and uplifted, but you'll also feel a spark in your spiritual conscience.
Sara Groves has a new fan. Have a listen yourself and you'll almost certainly become her next.
