I bought this book for the near future. Girls are growing up much faster than they did when I was a child. There is so much GREAT information in this book. It should be used in schools. Nothing is missed and they discuss the details in a way that a girls can understand and opens up the opportunity for talks between moms and daughter or even dads and daughters!

This is a good book filled with some great information. I purchased it intending to open up discussions about her body with my 8 year old daughter, who has had some of "those" questions lately. There is a lot of great stuff, HOWEVER, I was quite shocked when I discovered the picture (cartoon-ish, but still!) that explained how to insert a tampon. That is way more info than I want my 8 year old to have at this point. Good for older girls, or younger girls who are actually developing in that way, but not good for the younger girls who are just curious about what's next!

I was very happy with this book. I bought it for my almost 9 year old daughter. We started reading it right away. She really got into it. She learned a lot and it helped to break the ice on certain subjects that may not have come up yet. I would definately recommend the book to any young girl to prepare her for changes that she will go through.

It is a great book for starting the "period" discussion with younger girls. Step daughter was very pleased with the format and information provided in this book...

My pediatrician recommended this book for my 9 year old and she surprisingly loved it! As soon as I gave it to her, she started reading it and finished it in one sitting! Then she wanted to read it again later that evening! It prompted her to ask me questions about the contents of the book which was the perfect way for us to begin discussing the changes her body is about to go through! I only wish the book was out when I was her age...would've saved me a lot of guesswork!!!! I definitely recommend it for any young girl about to enter puberty!

I purchased this book in 2000 for my then 9 year old (now 18 year old) daughter. The book was the answer to my prayers with how to broach many sensitive subjects with my daughter. NOW, I have another 10 year old daughter who had similar questions and we pulled the book off the shelf and blew the dust off....WAHOOOOO you did it again. I have recommended this book to all my friends with daughters who are between 8 and 14. FANTASTIC way to open conversation with mothers AND daughters, because as some reviewers have said, not all mothers are equipped to have such conversations with their children. I was one of them. Kudos!
