I have'nt bought this CD as yet, and, scanning the music on this one I only see a half-dozen that Denny and group made popular during his time at Don The Beachcomber on the Waikiki strip in Hawaii in 1958. It was a wonderful time to experience Hawaii with Martin Denny and the whole scene we experienced when we were a bunch of young Naval Aviators enroute to the western Pacific. I had the LP of Quiet Village many years ago. I only wanted to experience the same music this group made popular back then. I will probably buy this CD just to hear those select few that bring back memories of Hawaii fifty years ago.

I'd remembered this recording from my dating days of long ago. It was good listening music plus it was filled with tropical sound effects and bird calls. Recently my daughter was looking for music to play to her Cockatiels for enrichment and to keep them occupied during the day. I ordered this recording. This music is so romantic that after 5 years her birds started laying eggs. No kidding. If you want the cliche snuggle music - this is not it. If you want the good old fashioned romance thing - voila.....bg

Martin Denny was ahead of his time. My father had an 8-track tape of "Quiet Village" and I remember literally wearing the tape out I played it so much..... This evokes a time before electronic music creations where artists/composers had to "use their head" to create sounds unique to them as opposed to using a myriad of pre-programmed electronic creations that are now available since 50 years ago..... An A+++++ album for Exotica!!!!

I rate Martin Denny's albums 5 stars. The music was cool back then and still is today, it's timeless. It transports you back to that period when exotica was very popular in the 50s and 60s, and I guess it's gaining much popularity today, with those who are into the Kon tiki culture. My family has always been extremely proud of the fact, that my uncle Harvey Ragsdale, was Martin Denny's bass player for years, and is on many of Denny's albums. My uncle was a great friend of his, and sadly, he and Martin Denny, have both passed on. Martin Denny was a great band leader, and many people who had the pleasure to personally know Martin Denny, such as my uncle, thought Martin Denny was also a great human being. It's wonderful that Martin Denny's music lives on.

This music may be Martin Denney but IS NOT the original Ouiet Village, I have the Original Album and the case it came in, over half the sound tracks are different, and the ones I wanted are not on it. NEVER AGAIN. Capt. Karl A Greig
