Here is what people are saying about the It Came from Beneath the Sink! (Goosebumps Series)
4 Star Rating  "Grandma time"2009-02-19

My grandson is 6 years old and introduced me to the Goosebumps series.
I have ordered the ones he picked out and we look forward to quiet time and reading the stories together. The chapters end in such a way that he wants to keep reading. I do get animated for him and he loves it. It gives me a time out from the high impact activites of a 6 year old.
This story was a lot of fun for us. I showed him my grool (under my sink) to his amazement. I like that there is a theme to learn. In this case, "be kind"

Almost twelve-year old Katrina "Kitty Kat" Merton and her ten-year old brother Daniel haven't even moved in to their new, three-story house before scary things start to happen. While Kat is cleaning the kitchen cupboards, she finds a seemingly benign sponge beneath the sink. But something scary happened on the way to the trashcan. The "small, round...light brown" sponge, "A little bigger than an egg," turns out to be a bad-luck-loving, living entity bent on mischief. And unfortunately for its finder, the thing can neither be destroyed nor given away.

This Goosebumps book (one in a series of 62) is much like the (many) others that my favorite boy bookworm has read. Goosebumpy-seeming happenings often turn out to be nothing more than practical jokes performed by other characters, or occurrences that seem scary but actually have nothing to do with the naughty "thing." As usual, there is some corny humor, "I was about to be crushed into Kat litter!" And although eventually, the bad entity is defeated and/or destroyed, the stories tend to be open-ended, with the possibility of further scariness seeming likely, thus leaving the (kid) reader with a continuing case of and desire for more Goosebumps.

Goosebumps are not my cup of tea, but the prolific R.L. Stine must be doing something right as he continues to dream up ideas in the genre - slightly scary fiction for kids. Better: Coraline by Neil Gaiman, Beware!: R.L. Stine Picks His Favorite Scary Stories by R.L. Stine and Various (especially Tiger in the Snow by Daniel Wynn Barber), and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

A harmless dried up sponge or an evil creature? That is what Kat and her brother Daniel must figure out when they discover what appears to be an old sponge under the sink of their new house. It doesn't take long for them to do just that - soon they discover the sponge is alive complete with a set of evil looking eyes. Bad luck follows where ever they go and with each accident, the creature becomes more excited and alive.

Will Kate and Daniel figure out just what this thing is and if there is a way to get rid of it before it is too late?

It Came From Beneath The Sink is another great story by R.L. Stine. It has just the right amount of creepiness for this young age group and never has a dull moment. My six year old daughter is loving this series of books and is always ready to grab another, just as soon as we finish one up. I also enjoy reading them with her and love how the author ends each chapter in a way that makes the reader want to continue onto the next. Great books to hold children's attention!

The book I read was "It came from beneath the sinks," by GooseBunps Iscolastic. I really enjoyed the book for 3 reasons; One,because it is extremely intense and exciting. Another reason is because it is a mystery book and I really like to hear a good mystery. Lastly because I once believed that there was a monster under my bed. I recomend it to anyone who loves a good scare and loves mysteries. Once you start reading, you won't be able to stop. This book is great, I garantee that you will enjoy this book.

This book rocks! Not only is there a breathing evil sponge but a potato with sharp razor teeth...you can't get better than that. The story was very interesting, scary, funny and even awkward. It kept me reading for hours....I wish my sister would find a sponge of her own and leave me alone!

Kat and Daniel moved to a new huge house. Their dog killer is growling and going crazy at the sink. Under the sink Kat pulls out what looks like a dirty old sponge. Than the sponge starts to shake and get stronger whenever something bad happens to Kat. The sponge under the sink is called a grool, and Kat can't kill it.
A good book. I rated it 4 stars because it was a little boring -- Scottie Schaeffer age 10
