Lawrence of Arabia is a classic film fest of 4 hrs of delight - lots of extras no CGI or other computer animation but the real thing with large scale budget and amazing locations.
"The well is everything" - "He is nothing" is a classic catch phrase from the film. A Good film which historically sets the scene for the removal of the Turks leading to Britians rule over Palestine and the re-establishmnet of Israel.
One man united Arabs tribesmen to throw of the yoke for their own land. Good camel shots and the movie is based on a true story.
Good bar scene as well from the days of British imperial / colonial / empire and a few good battles.
If you have good attention span (4hrs) and want to see a classic movie without compter animation - this is the one!
"Stunning visually in widescreen even on the TV"

Even seen in a VHS "widescreen" version clocking in at 229 minutes with 2 short documentaries added at the beginning and the opening overture music(like being in the theatre), this is one of the great cinematic masterpieces of all time.
Consider especially,no CGI were used in the desert and battle scenes(computer-generated images)-please correct me if I'm wrong but it was 1961-62 in a remote location 150 miles from the nearewst town according to the short 8-min documentary.Everything was flown in by plane. Highly recommended!

"One of the best movies ever made!"

This movie is a classic. I own very few DVD's, but this is one that I consider a must-have for any collection. It is a long movie, so not something you can sit down and watch quickly. However, it is a fantastic story with great acting by all involved.
Peter O'Toole is great in the role of Lawrence. I can't imagine the part being played by someone else. Alec Guinness (no lightsaber) is his usual great self as well.
My wife even likes this movie and she hates war movies!
If you have not seen this film you cannot call yourself a movie buff. Guarantee that it makes your list of top 50 movies once you've seen it.
"Raised my blood pressure: gave me a bloody nose!"
When I first saw this a lot of it went right over my head! I saw the Young Indian Jones about how the Arabs were treated at the treaty meeting in France. The Germans fought the first world war basically because the British and French were backing them into a corner. The British Empire despite all the history we get was just not a real nice way to treat other people? T. E. Lawrence was in this movie a pawn of the British used to get Arab terrorists to attack the Turkish troops. No one can say that the Turks were nice, just they were civilization in the Islamic sense. But oil was a new motive and the middle east was an important part of the future that the British Empire needed. Saying that the fellow Lawrence was used and ultimately abused by the process may well be a simplification. My opinion is that he may have been abused by this movie ( after the fact). But the movie also made history and brought a new way to look at historical figures in film.
"I DON'T KNOW HOW TO BEGIN REVIEWING MY FAVORITE FILM"

I truly do not know how to begin reviewing my all-time favorite film (co-favorite is GWTW). I get very emotional, so pls. bear with me. Peter O'Toole is so perfect, so great in his destined, born-to-play role as T.E. Lawrence. (So beautifully handsome too - we musn't forget that)! Unforgettably classic performance in unforgettable classic film.
When Columbia films in their great stupidity cut it after its first release in Dec. 1962 (producer Spiegel's idea), then in the mid 1970's cut it unmercifully again, I was aghast and so sad. The restoration of 1988-89 is almost like a miracle, seeing it almost whole again; going back to April 1963 when I first saw this glorious film as a young girl. I really don't know how to say more - I love it and him. (P.S. Can you tell Peter's also my unrequited love)?
