| I am 31 years old and just started reading Harry Potter a few months ago. I never understood why people liked this story and why my friends read these books, they're for teens for goodness sakes. But I decided to try.... I read Sorcerer's Stone and thought it was ok, but someone told me to stick it out.... boy am I glad I did! I am officially addicted to this series. I LOVE Harry. I am about to start book 6, but hesitate to do so because I don't want the series to end! I want to take the last 2 books as slow as possible but I have a hard time putting them down they are so good. I liked Order of the Phoenix, it answered a lot of questions for me. I can't wait to get started on the last 2! If you are considering this series, do it, and stick it out too! |

In present time, Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix takes place mostly in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the Ministry of Magic. Two dementors of Azkaban attack Harry Potter and his cousin, Dudley. Harry Potter is taken to headquarters of the society known as the Order of the Phoenix. There he is informed of that Lord Voldemort might be after something he didn't have the last time. Heading back to Hogwarts with his two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, Harry feels more alone than ever. Dumbledore stays away from him and there is a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Her name is Professor Umbridge. Professor Umbridge is the undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, who appoints her as High Inquisitor. She refuses to teach her classes any spells. With Hermione and Ron's encouragement, Harry agrees to train a selection of students who become known as the D.A. or Dumbledore's Army. But when Umbridge finds out and Dumbledore runs away, Harry is faced with a dream that frightens him and convinces him to go to the Ministry of Magic. But Harry does not go alone for his five friends, Hermione, Ron, Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom, and Luna Lovegood, want to go with him. When they arrive at the Ministry Harry discovers the weapon and realizes that himself and his friends are in a trap from Lord Voldemort. When someone special to Harry dies, Harry will discover that he has to control his thoughts when he comes face to face with Lord Voldemort.
This book tells me that friends are important to you so you won't be left out. The way J.K. Rowling shows her work is remarkable to read beyond comparison. Anyone who loves magic and suspense should read this book.

"Best one of the series so far" | 2009-08-24 |

| The longest book of the Harry Potter series is also the best so far. The tension starts immediately in the opening scene, and doesn't let up throughout the book, which is quite remarkable for an 870-page book (in hardcover). I also liked how Rowling detailed Harry's adolescent temper tantrums. She really tapped into the growing pains that teenagers go through, and added a good layer to the story. Definitely my favorite one of the series so far. |

"The only low point in the series" | 2009-08-14 |

| I love this series, It's so imaginative & inspiring. That's why I was so disappointed with the petulant tone of this installment. If you only read one Harry Potter novel, PLEASE don't let it be this one. They're so good, it would be a shame to see the whole series measured by this book. With that said, it's still good. Harry's attitude just set me on edge- he's been underestimated throughout the series, why is he lashing out NOW & why is he setting such a surly example for readers? *sigh* just get through this one quickly enough that you can follow the plot lines through to Half-Blood Prince. |

| You would think that the 5th book in a series such as this might lose steam, and falter, but you would be wrong. This book just keeps going and keeps you wanting more. You would be hard pressed to find a better set of books, especially better written! No one else could have pulled it off! |
