i have had several bad experiences recently with items bought from amazon. i have not had the sellers OR amazon even reply to my many requests for attention to them. i was reluctant to purchase again, but we really wanted this movie and its hard to find. we are pleasantly surprised with the great condition and have enjoyed the great memories it has brought us.
i am happy i took the chance.

Good performances. A fun period piece. A good diversion. Overall, a solid movie. I'm not sure how St. Louis looked in 1903, but I'm going to guess that this movie approaches it with rose colored glasses. The family was solidly upper middle class and real problems were not plaguing them. But sometimes you want an escapist movie and you get this with this movie. I'm also a sucker for 'main street USA' movies set around 1900. Pollyanna, Two Weeks with Love (Ricardo Mantalbon, Debbie Reynolds, hard to find, but very good). etc...

Judy Garland is sweet and the songs are original and entertaining. This movie is great for the whole family. It has a lot of substance and no fillers.

This is my favorite movie of all time and I'm thrilled to have multiple copies to enjoy forever. Great Judy Garland music and choreography. Love the time period in the early 1900's and beautiful costumes. Can't go wrong with this one.

I would think this classic movie is more appealing to a female than a male, but all should enjoy it. It centers more on romances than on anything else. Whatever it's labeled, it sure looks good on this two-disc `Special Edition." Wow!
The print is fantastic, and extra features are worth checking out.

Child actor Margaret O'Brien, in her first starring role, is okay but a little annoying with her emoting. She sure was a ham in her child acting career in the 1940s. Judy Garland, meanwhile, well.....I certainly can't knock her voice/ Leon Ames, as head "Mr. Alonzo Smith," of the household, played the most likable character, followed by Harry Davenport as the grandpa.

As for the music, "The Trolley Song" was my favorite although I admit I found myself humming the title tune for several days after watching this. Although billed as a musical, the stories in here were played up much more than the songs, of which there were only a half dozen.

The costuming of the ladies and of the period (turn of the 20th century) were beautiful, as was the Technicolor. If you enjoy color, this is pretty film to watch.

One of the best of the classic MGM musicals, Meet Me In St. Louis brings that America we all wish existed to life in more ways than one. Judy Garland is at her best and it shows. Better than Royal Wedding not as good as Singing in the Rain, MMISL is well worth owning. Do yourself a favor, experience this great film at least once a year, you'll be glad you did.
