I got this movie because I used to watch it as a kid and now that I see it again when I'm older it's even better than I remember. It's a cute story about a man who magically becomes a fish and then helps his military friend to track down the enemy. A good story for kids and adults alike.

This is a great movie. It came just as described and shipping was fast. Very happy.
Mr. Limpet takes me back...it was one of my favorite movies as a child. I remember watching it whenever it was on. We have this movie, and my daughter likes it, but only the animated parts. She can't understand the submarine, or the war...thankfully...but enjoys seeing a fish who wears glasses. Her other all time favorite Don Knotts film is "THE GHOST AND MR. CHICKEN." This is pure family fun, nothing you wouldn't feel comfortable having your children see.
I am not really a Don Knotts' fan, not being a viewer of him playing Barney Fife, but I did enjoy him in Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. When The Incredible Mr. Limpet came on television some years ago, I do not recall what made me want to watch it, but I did, and enjoyed it very much. I could understand his obsession with his fish since I, too, had a tropical fish tank. I sympathized with his harried wife, played wonderfully by Carole Cook, who finally gave him the ultimatum to get rid of the fish or she would leave him. How appropriate then that he would solve the problem by wishing he were a fish, and having his wish come true. You have heard it said to be careful what you wish for, it may come true. Well, he was delighted that his wish came true. My favorite character was the hermit crab Henry named Crusty, but to see Andrew Duggan in this type of movie was really funny, and I recognized Larry Keating as Mr. Post's neighbor in Mr. Ed. A fanciful tale with the parting of Henry and his wife, the latter wondering if she was the widow of a man or the wife of a fish. At least Henry's dreams of serving in the Navy came true in a big way. I did watch the bonus material, seeing Don Knotts getting a certificate from the Navy, and watching the underwater premier in Florida attended to by "mermaids." A joyful romp for the whole family.
I bought this as a family move based on all the high reviews. We sat down to watch it last night as a family and it seemed to take a long time for the movie to go anywhere. My daughters we bored and running off after 10 minutes because it wasn't keeping their attention. If you don't already know, Don Knotts' character turns into a fish after wishing he was one and then later on helps the US Navy find U boats. The animation is pretty boring, but since it was made in the 60's, I should have expected it. The acting seemed to be over done by everyone but Knotts. Is the story line unbelievable? Yes, but aren't all animated movies? My husband and I had a few good laughs but the kids gave up on the movie long before it ended. Not sure if we'll be watching it again therefore I wouldn't recommend you buying it unless you've seen it. Rent it first and see if this is a movie you and something your family would enjoy.
