| I'm a little at a loss for words... this set is almost $100 and it doesn't even include the other Lion King sequels? I love the Lion King movie, but sorry, I don't think any movie is worth that much money (no matter how many extra-never-before-seen-interviews-songs-videos there are). |

"One of Disney's best movies... but I don't know if I could take this much on a DVD" | 2008-09-27 |

I think I can safely say that "The Lion King" is one of my top three favorite things Disney has ever done. I love the story, the music, and the beautiful animation and color. It truly is an art form and any lover of the movie should be able to appreciate the platinum edition DVD.
And I do. I truly do. I can be quite the geek when it comes to DVDs, but this... it's kind of reminiscent of the marketing ploy that part of Disney has become.
Really, with all the marvelous extras this thing has... does it really need all the crap? The ads and too-long menus gave me something of a headache.
Still, I suppose it's worthy it to at least have this film gem on DVD. |

"The Lion King: The Greatest Disney Film Ever!" | 2008-09-25 |

| Every day when I wake up in the morning and I see the sun shining so beautifully and so brightly in the sky, I begin singing to myself "Hakuna Matata" and I know that my day will go well and somehow I'll find a way to make the world a better place and I owe it all to this film. You see, this is a wonderful movie about bringing animals together. Simba is going to be king, only his nasty uncle, Scar, has other ideas and concocts a plan to kill Simba and his father, Mufasa. Fortunately, only Mufasa dies and Simba is scared off into the desert and told never to return. Now, this is where the movie gets oh so incredibly good because Simba meets my two favorite characters in the film: Timon and Pumbaa, a weasel and a warthog. Nathan Lane does the voice of Timon and every time I hear him, it makes me smile. This is where we get to hear the song "Hakuna Matata," which means no worries. This is such an important lesson for everyone, especially with the troubles in the Middle East right now with all the people who hate freedom. See, if you have no worries then you don't have any problems. Of course, Simba takes this a little too far because he ignores his responsibilities. This is where the wonderful song "Circle of Life" comes in. Later, when Nala shows up, we get to hear "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." I know I could! Really, when you think about it, this film teaches us how music can heal the world because every time you hear a song, you learn an important lesson. The greatest parts of the film, I think, are that we get to see monkeys and lions living in peace and harmony and when Mufasa comes to Simba in a vision, it's like Obi Wan Kenobi from "Star Wars" and whenever I think of "Star Wars" I get a big smile on my face. You'll feel kingly watching "The Lion King"! |

| "The Lion King" is one of the best movies ever made. It should be cherished as a Disney classic forever. Mufasa is so wise and Jeremy Irons does a really great job of making Scar evil. I would have to say my favorite character is Simba...because he really had some struggles and he pulled through them. This has some really great lines: Ah yes the past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it. ~Rafiki How can I go back! I'm not who I used to be! ~Simba You are more then what you have become ~Mufasa Remember who you are ~Mufasa There are countless others, but I haven't the time to name them. This movie is really wonderful. The cast is superb and the comedy is really great. It is probably the greatest animated film of all time. Not to mention that the music in this movie is absolutely PHENOMENOL, especially in the scene at the end where Simba climbs Pride Rock. Whoever designed this music has some real talent. I love this movie, it is marvelous. |

I love this film for the five main reasons. Reason 1: I like all the characters in this except Scar, the main baddie. He annoys me just slightly (although I like his voice). Reason 2: The scenery portrays a beautiful vision of Africa and it makes me feel like I'm really there. Reason 3: The plot is very beautiful and it has made me want to read "Hamlet" on which the plot was based! Reason 4: This film has beautiful songs! My favourite is "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" (written by Elton John) but I love all the others as well. Reason 5: I love the voices that were picked for all the characters. I especially like the sound of Jeremy Iron's (Scar), Rowan Atkinson's (Zazu), Nathan Lane's (Timon), Whoopi Goldberg's (Shenzi), James Earl Jones's (Mufasa) and Moira Kelly's (adult Nala) voices! Bouncy musical numbers from Elton John and Tim Rice,a nice, gentle, humored script by Irene Mecchi and Jonathan Roberts and directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff make this animated film more than a kid-friendly treatment of Hamlet. (If memory serves,I believe Mr.Minkoff went on to direct and/or produce the Broadway production as well) The musical numbers may be approaching saccharine sweet and the plot and characters may seem all too familiar now,but it's still quality entertainment, pure and simple. While the enjoyment or entertainment value of Disney animation may vary from person-to-person,it's tough to argue that in a five-year,four movie span(The Little Mermaid,Beauty and the Beast,Aladdin and this film)the strength and vitality of the storied Mouse franchise.

| The best Disney animated film ever...This film had it all, it was funny, emotional, had family drama, and above all, great animation and songs! My personal favorite character is Rafiki, the Baboon! I still cant forget the line he says to Simbe, "Past can hurt, but as I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it!" it is so true! i loved Zazu's weirdness, and shenzi's humor, above all, i loved Pumba's innocence and Timon's intelligence! In short, i found the film the best film ever... The voice cast is also great. Mathew did complete justice to Simba, and what can I say about Mufasa, He is the best King, and dad anyone can ever get! The movie is not meant for kids, its meant to teach every adult a lesson...to find our place in the great "Circle Of Life". Thank-You Disney For The Lion King. |
