This has GOT to be my most favorite musical of all time! Based off of T.S. Elliot's 'Old Possum's book of Practical Cats', I've seen this show at LEAST six times in my life since its incarnation in 1981. Sir Andrew Llyod Webber has done a fantastic job bringing these "papercats" to life, and the theater is truly fortunate and blessed to have these elite performers "strutting their stuff" on the stage. From The Rum Tum Tugger to Grizabella, the Glamour Cat and the magical, mystical Mister Mistoffelees and of course the old, wise and gentle Old Deuteronomy and MY personal favorite, Gus the Theatre Cat, and ALL of the Cats in between, this is a visual and audio feast not to be missed. Every time I hear the song "Memory", I can't help but cry. All the other Cats shun Grizabella because of her controversial past. But in the end, they come to love and accept her. The choreagraphy is stellar and the special effects, lighting, and prop design is exceptionally clever. Whether you're in the privacy of your own home watching or in the public theater, you're in for a memorable treat! Thank you, Cats!

First rate performance. Energetic, fun, and although the words aren't quite s clear as those on the cd, I realize these actors are moving energetically for the most while singing.

The DVDs are in good shape and though I anticipated more extras than I got, I'm still quite pleased with the quality of the product. My only real complaint is that the case is cracked and the adhesive from the tape that kept the case closed won't come off - making it want to stick to the other DVD cases it's next to in my collection (or anything else the it comes in contact with).

A haunting, majestic tale told by intricately decorated and adorned actors with atheletic builds tastefully showcased in form fitting attire. These men and women take on the roles of some of the most lasting and wonderful characters ever to be introduced into the realms of film or stage. Such delightfully memorable cats such as Mr. Mistoffelees, Munkustrap, Macavity, Jellylorum and of course, the Rum Tum Tigger will remain with you for the rest of your days, prancing about in your head!!

But that is not all that this intriguing tale has to offer! The sweeping, heart-wrenching songs will have you crying out with joy and weeping with terrible sorrow. They are timeless classics that you will listen to time and time again!!
The dancing is the other main attraction that will have you gaping with wonder at the fantastical feats that these able bodied characters are capable of! There are playful leaps and joyous bounds, tragically sad interpretive dances, and seductive gyrations. The Rum Tum Tigger dance will leave you breathless, but keep in mind that it is definetly not intended for children.

There are countless reasons to watch this epic tale of redemption and rebirth. It is hard to even absorb the whole perfection of it on first veiwing, and multiple showings will undoubtedly occur within your home.

I grew up listening and watching these musicals and now my 3 year old is also loving them. She had seen scenes from these on youtube and she lvoed them so we decided to buy the dvd. Now we have it on every few days if not every day. She is such a performer and dances and jumps around the living room. She tries to do cartwheels, kicks her leg in the air and crawls along the floor when the cats do.

We are now starting her at dance classes. This is a wonderful dvd for anyone that has chidlren that like to perform, after one week her dance skills have dramatically increased, now isntead of mostly spinning she watches and learns new moves, she is now a cat ....

This edition was probably the most widely known. Entertaining and exceptional performance with many performers also widely known.

However I rented an addition of CATS from Blockbuster and thought I was getting that one. My advise is make sure the edition you expect is the one you order!
