Season 3 of this series is where this show really hit it's stride, writers and producers got changed, the uniforms were changed, and the opening sequence was changed, and all for the better, because the first 2 seasons of this show were not that great, season 1 was a disgrace, season 2 was an improvement, but still left much to be desired, season 3 is where this series starts for me.

And season 4 offers the same excellence as it's predecessor, the episodes (set aside a couple) were really thought out well, and put to the screen in their vision perfectly, and just like season 3, this season goes into character development even more, which was something the first 2 seasons lacked, as well as other things.

I'm not going to explain all of the episodes, but I will go through some, the season opens with the sequel to the season 3 cliffhanger 'The Best of Both Worlds' which is an EXCELLENT episode, entertaining, well acted, and most of all, the story is brilliant, in 'Brothers' we see 'Lore' (Data's brother) bringing him back from the season 1 episode 'Datalore' which was one of the FEW good episodes of season 1, but this one is way better, we meet Doctor Nioon Song, Data and Lore's creator, and there is some great drama here, as well as some great acting provided by Brent Spiner, who acted as Data (of course) and Lore, and Nioon Song, and it further shows that Spiner is a great actor, doing 3 roles!

'Remember Me' is another great episode, dealing with Beverly Crusher being caught in a warp bubble, where the universe is shrinking, and the rest of the crew starts disappearing, great Crusher episode, 'Future Imperfect' deals with Riker experiencing things that are...not supposed to be, not much else to say about it, solid episode, 'Data's Day' is a great Data episode, living a day in the life of the character, really thought out well, and performed to perfection, it really gets you closer to him, 'The Nth Degree' Reggie Barclay (from season 3's Hollow Pursuits' is back, and gets taken over by an intelligent life form.

Other standout episodes, 'The Wounded' 'Family' 'Final Mission' 'Clues' 'First Contact' 'Galaxy's Child' 'Night Terror's' 'Identity Crisis' 'The Drumhead' 'The Mind's Eye' 'In Theory' and the season ending cliffhanger 'Redemption part 1'.

For me, the only sub-par episodes were 'The Host' and 'Half a Life' not BAD, but just doesn't stand up to the rest.

This is a great season, if you've seen season 3, and loved it like I did, I highly suggest picking this one up, as well as season 5, season 6, and season 7, as all the seasons from 3 on out are excellent!

Though not a "stellar" season (no pun intended), a must have for the TNG fan. The quality of the DVD's is very good. The layout and menus very good, the packaging is EXCELLENT!
If you are not a TNG fan, think of becoming one, it was a fantastic television series, very worth the watch. Quality writing and acting. Being a sci-fi fan certainly helps, but not absolutely necessary to enjoy.
There are plenty of reviews on Amazon and other sources that go into detail about the episodes if that is something you need. I won't do that here.
