Bad Santa (The Unrated Version and Director's Cut) [Blu-ray] (Purchased on 12/26/2007) Great Movie. Was glad to see that the Blu version include both film cuts. I gave it 4 stars for the simple matter of grain. Grain drives me nuts. I want to see a crystal clear movie Directors. They really should give a us two versions one with grain and the other grain free.

Bad Santa is a pretty good movie, but in watching Bad Santa and Badder Santa, I found that Bad Santa is not worth your money. BUY BADDER SANTA!! It is much more funny. This movie is not for kids anyway so you might as well buy the funnier version. :)

This just goes to prove that artists often are not the best judge of their art, as Terry Zwigoff, in his Director's Cut here, completely RUINS one of the finest comedies I've ever seen, a hilarious antidote for those who hate the holdays, a vulgar comedy with an angry spirit and an ultimately uplifting experience, has been transformed here (hard to believe this was the intended version) into a completely miserable film. Gone is the voice-over in the opening bar scene; gone are many, many funny scenes; instead of being a 'dark comedy', as Badder Santa is (and likewise Bad Santa, both recommended over this swill), this movie here is simply dark. As in pretty darn depressing. The whole mood of the film is different. It's just not funny. Even the ending is changed, something far less triumphant. If you have never seen this movie, first off, it is NOT a "holiday film", as many mistake it for, and thus hate it; rather, it is indeed an antidote, for those of us who say, hate It's A Wonderful Life. Secondly, if you are a BIG fan of Bad Santa, please DON'T be tempted by this; all you need is Badder Santa, that I would give five stars to easily. It's a shame this version was ever released. This DVD is a waste of time and money. Skip it.

I guess if I was my hubby I would have given the movie 5 stars but I just couldn't, probably because it's one we definately have to hide from the kids. But hay it made him happy.

This was pretty darn funny. Billy Bob Thornton is just plain sick and wrong in this. Not a big stretch? All the characters bring chuckles and snickers from all angles--( thank you Bernie Mac, and the immortal Cloris Leechman.) But I have to say John Ritter was the brilliant final ingredient that made this comedy. "He's not gonna say F#*k stick in front of the children is he?!" Not a huge part, but his little subtle lines and facial expressions were just hilarious. Great stuff from John, in his, I believe- final role? This is definitely worth checking out, and I have'nt even seen the un-rated version.

If you have a real dark sense of humor and love the anti-holiday movies, this movie is up your alley. There isn't anything really special about the Blu-Ray version (for those who already own Badder) but it was nice to have in a true high def sense.

I'm no expert at movie reviews, so I'll keep it short. I love this movie because it cleverly exposes the lies of the "Perfect American Christmas" while at the same time offering alternative redemption for that same institution. There is plenty of swearing, sacrilege and lowbrow humor here, and it's pretty well done. By breaking so many standard taboos around the sanctity of the modern Christmas Holidays, something more real to celebrate seems to shine through. It ain't no "White Christmas," and yet it seems just as much a part of the required Christmas watching list. And as another reviewer said, you get to appreciate the subtle humor of John Ritter, R.I.P.
