Here is what people are saying about the A Nightmare on Elm Street
5 Star Rating  "One of the best films ever made."2010-07-20

Some thing is terrorizing Nancy and her friend in their dreams. Nancy and all her friends all share a common dream featuring the same creature stalking them. however when this creature kill you in your dreams you die in real life. This demonic being is Freddy Krueger who is a child rapist, murdered who comes back from the dead to kill again.

The pros

I love this film it has a very interesting story line with a being who exist only in dreams. However what he does in your dreams affects you in real life. This first Freddy film is more of a true horror film than the sequels and was a very scary film at the time it came out. The make up was excellent on Robert Englund. As a matter of fact the effects for this film were all great considering the small budget they had. The actors all did a solid job considering they were basically inexperienced as far as I know. Robert Englund does a great job bringing Freddy to life as he does in all the films. I also feel this film had the best back ground music of all the film and has a good music score for a horror film that pulls you in when it needs to. The ending of the film is interesting and unique how Nancy defeats Freddy. Also It has some pretty bloody parts and is gory which is something that most horror fans like my self like. Out of all the horror film monsters I feel Freddy has one of the most interesting looks visually. This vhs version has some bonus content such as a interview with writer director Wes craven and some other information you might enjoy.

The cons

Not much not to like in this film to be honest, but I'll point out a few things some may not care for. The effects still look great to me,but the picture is old and some effects may not look as good to some as they did back in the day it was released. The picture is bloody and very violent in some parts which may offend some. Some people who are are familiar with the wise cracking Freddy of the sequels may not like this darker more sinister version. The director was forced to alter his original ending in ways he did not want. The ending may confuse people who have never seen the film and did confuse many people back in the day. I suggest watching the bonus content on the vhs if you are a first time viewer of this films which explains the ending a bit.

In conclusion a great film that you should really watch if you haven't. A good watch for young ones wanting to watch a classic film.

I'm going to review the 1984 classic movie A Nightmare On Elm Street starring Robert Englund as the villain Freddy Kruger & he'd play the character in 1-7 & Freddy vs Jason. Heather Langenkamp plays Nancy Thompson & she'd be in this Nightmare On Elm Street 3 The Dream Worriors in 87 & New Nightmare in 94. Johnny Depp Played Glen Lantz who is Nancy's boyfriend I believe this was his 1st role. John Saxton plays Don Thompson who is a cop & is Nancy's father & Amanda Wyss plays Tina Gray. Basically the plot is these kids Nancy, Tina, Glen & Rod who have the same dream about this man with the bladed glove so you have Tina she is the 1st kill the celing death that is a classic scene her boyfriend Rod is put in jail cops believe he killed Tina then is hung in his cell by Freddy. Nancy's mother tries to help her she tells her about Freddy he was a sadistic chilld killer originally it was going to be a child møïê$*3r although it is implied through the series & that he got off due to search warrent problems so the parents burned him. There's a deleated scene where you find out Nancy had an older brother that was killed by Kruger. Glen is killed by Freddy in another classic death scene. Then Nancy builds her traps to bring Freddy into our world & kick his @**. There was some guy who reviewed the remake & he never saw the original he said oh the traps are like Home Alone. Dude the remake was laughable Freddy is a p***y in it & the characters are so unlikeable & cliche this however has characters you care about & good story telling & an actually meancing Freddy the remake has a laughable Freddy in it. So dude get your mouth off Michael "Explosions Transformers" Bay's d!*k. Although Platinum Dunes has made some enjoyable remakes. I do agree with Wes Craven that his intended ending is better it had a happy ending yet shows Freddy could be back. Ok next I'll review the highly underrated Nightmare On Elm Street 2 Freddy's Revenge.

The 2010 remake of this A Nightmare on Elm Street called: A Nightmare on Elm Street wasn't as good as this the original movie. I originally saw this movie back in the 1980s before I was ten years old and I have to say that this had been one of the scariest horror movie that I had seen. A Nightmare on Elm Street or the whole Freddy Krueger ideal is base on a REM Lucid Dream state with a Spiritual and Physical working together reversal so that death in real life is real in a dream. This is a good movie but the remake lost some of the twists, the sudden frights and dark murderous feeling.

All classic horror movie fans needs to pick this one up on blu, it has great sound and video.

Movie, 4/5 (a classic you'll never get sick of)
Audio, 3/5 (low due to the lipsyncing error early in the movie)
Video, 4/5 (amazing considering the age and budget of this movie)

I am NOT reviewing the DVD. Just the movies unless otherwise stated.

Please note that the rating above might not accurately reflect my thoughts, you will see a rating sentence at the end of the review.

Please refer to the Alien Resurrection and Leprechaun reviews. I cannot explain it. This movie is pure awesome, that's all I can say. Watch it if you can stand horror. Cause it's a masterpiece not explainable. A ride you must take to find out.

UPDATE: I would like to put on some key areas.

Most of the movie is pure slasher flick, you watch any other slasher you'll figure the style out. A few differences are first, the music is very 80's-ghost busters style. The series has gotten better with progression, and so has Robert England. However the main basis of the unique style of A Nightmare on Elm Street series is still in tact. One liners, dream sequences, and scarier than the rest of the crew of the 80's.

I still can't say much after that, but there is a ton more. It is pure awesome.

I rate it 5.5/5.
