In the same spirit of the original Sims, but with wonderful additions to keep things challenging and interesting. Far better than Sims 3, which sucked the life and individuality out of the Sims.

This game is one of the best I've played, and I'm picky. I adored the original Sims, and when this came out I bought it as soon as I could. After a little bit (okay, a lot) of hassle with upgrading my computer with memory and graphic cards and what not, I started playing, and it was way hard to stop. Everything about it is just amazing, but what really impressed me was the generations and the aging process, and also the much more detailed create-a-Sim choices. If you liked the first Sims, then you should definitely get this (although maybe only if you have a mac, since the mac version doesn't cost $123 lol).

This is definitely an upgrade from it's predecessor, The Sims. From what we enjoyed in sims 1 is transferred into sims 2. It has made the sims franchise into a successful game. Unfortunately, this doesn't transfer as successfully into sims 3. It lacks the depth and special features that we enjoyed in sims 1 & 2. Sims 3 is targeted for the 16-24 year olds with short attention spans. It's a mini game. In sims 3, it feels like you are transported back into time playing sims 1, especially since the graphics of the sims look a bit flat and not so much 3D. What I love about sims 2 is that I now feel that my sims are more personal and realistic. What I hate about sims 3 is that it has many great ideas, but has also taken a lot of step backwards from what loyal fans loved about sims 1 & 2. EA wanted to draw in die-hard gamers who found the sims time consuming and tediously boring. Well, EA, good job with that cause you're going to isolate the longtime simmers, who can see that sims 3 as a hollow game, with no depth. Sims 3 is a flashy game full of gimmicks that get tiring and boring. The only negative I can think about sims 2 is that it had no superstar features. My favorite thing in sims 1 was the superstar expansion. That's my only gripe about sims 2. In sims 2, I can create more realistic looking sims using custom content that is available in the sims community for free. With sims 3, you're forced with very limited custom content so if you want more CC, EA wants you to buy from their online store, which I think is a rip off. EA is turning out to have a reputation as greedy bastards. Tuning out expansions after expansions. I would also have been on the cheering squad for sims 3 if they had successfully made a greater game than sims 2. As a sim fan, I expected an upgrade full of depth and worth the fifty bucks. Not some unfinished product. This will make me think twice before buying another game from EA, especially if there is a sims 4 in the next 5-10 years. In the end, I wish another gamer company gave EA competition in the simulation genre... it will force EA to not be greedy and tune out a better quality upgrade of the sims 3, MAKING IT WORTHY of sims 1 & 2 combined.

Unfortunately, the best is still sims 2. Unless, some game company introduces competition... seriously, if it's better than sims 2, I'm jumping ship and saying goodbye EA!

4 Star Rating  "very fun, gets slow"2009-05-09

I am not a gamer, but this game definitely catches my attention. I love it. The only problem I've had besides a few bugs that can be annoying but to me aren't a big deal, is the game works very slow on some computers. If you have a lot of programs on your PC, the game may become so slow that it is unplayable, because of all the stuff on the game. But it is so much fun. I just purchased a new one from Amazon because I lost my other one - and I am not really one to spend money on something twice.

This game is amazing compared with Sims 1. The game play is much more realistic and you can modify your sims alot better. I would definatley reccommend!
