Black & Decker 14-inch Grasshog Trimmer/Edger,
Black & Decker 14-inch Grasshog Trimmer/Edger, Model No. GH600
Every home lawn enthusiast needs a reliable trimmer. When it comes to performance in the front or back yard, the Grass Hog 14-inch automatic feed string trimmer and edger provides what you need. This tool is powered by a 4.8 Amp electric motor that spins the line at 9,500 rpm and gives you a 14-inch cutting swath. An Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) system eliminates the need to bump the trimmer against the ground every time the line breaks. And the 30-foot, factory-wound spool is easy to install and replace. Head adjustment is quick and easy, too, when the Groom'N'Edge head rotates 180 degrees; just press the button, rotate the handle and wait for it to lock in place. The patented cord retention system helps prevent accidental unplugging while in use. This trimmer comes equipped with an auxiliary handle for added comfort and control. The handle rotates a full 360 degrees and the soft grip can be moved up and down to ensure the perfect fit, whatever size the operator may be. A flip-down edge guide ensures precise trimming and edging work. At just 5.2 pounds, this product is easy for just about anyone to use. This product is backed by a 2-year full warranty. --Carl Thress

|"Owned for years"|

|I owned one of these or one almost identical to this for more years than I can remember (9-10 years??), probably since they first came out with this model and it has never had an issue. Always fed string reliably and worked great as an edger as well. I have used this product without issue on my typical neighborhood yard. Today, after years of use/abuse, mine finally had a string issue that killed it. So I'm here on amazon to buy another. Best $50 I ever spent. Hoping to get ten years out of the new one I'm buying!|

|"The great grass hog."|

|The grass hog is light weight and easy to use. The body twists so it becomes an efficant edger. The grass hog is great for weed wacking. This is my second one. My first grass hog is still going strong after several years in the hands of my son.|

|Bought this to replace an old Weedeater trimmer/edger. It does an excellent job edging and leaves a nice clean edge. Has plenty of horse power and did not appear to be a excessive string eater. Works much better than my cordless Black and Decker edger/trimmer, which just doesn't have enough horsepower or battery life. Well worth the money and I didn't see any other edger/trimmer at this price point that works this well. Highly recommend this product.|
|"No good on problem yards!"|

|I have tried B&D electric trimmers 3 times now and I won't buy another one. My 1st was the bump type. It started out great, but it seems that if there is an iota of moisture to the grass/weeds the line doesn't want to feed out. When the no-bump type trimmer came out, I thought I would try it again as I thought maybe the bump type was a poor design and that they had taken care of the problem by making it no bump....not so! Same thing happened without bumping. I took it to DeWalt and the salesman there accused me of "bumping" the machine. He really made me mad! I even have to take the spool out and snip the line as it seems to melt onto the other string. I feel that if you have the perfect lawn with no concrete, stone, crabgrass, etc. this may be a great trimmer, but if you have a less than perfect lawn this is not the trimmer for you. My neighbor had one also and hers does the same thing as mine. Also, the cap that goes over the spool cracks easily and flies off. Between winding my own spools, buying replacement cap covers and the aggravation the thing gives you, it is definitely not worth buying. I am definitely buying something better this time.

|I've had my Grasshog for five years and I love it! I can't swing one of the big gas weedeaters any more, and I've found that this electric one will do just about anything I ask of it. In Oklahoma, that's a lot. We have five acres to maintain, and the Grasshog cuts down everything except the toughest weeds. Knee-high tough grass is a breeze. It's lightweight and pretty well balanced, and the flip-over head is really nice for edging or running a vertical trim down a chain link fence. I don't find that it uses an excessive amount of cord, but I must admit that I cheat and use a fine, heavy-duty line that will fit it. I gave up on buying the spools of B&D line for it, since they don't last very long and are expensive.
Some people have said that you need to wear long pants while using it, and I think that's a given for any weedeater. These things are not toys, and they can fling rocks, sticks and other debris. Safety glasses are good also. Better to be safe than sorry.
I like the Grasshog so well that I'm buying another one for my mother.
