First off, I want to say that I have been a fan of Final Fantasy for many years, and love the varying direction of the different games. I love the organic aspects of Final Fantasy and even the hyper-modern, slick metal themes of some of the games. I could not, however, understand or get into this game. I tried. I really, really tried. I put hours into this game, and simply stopped before reaching the end, here's why;
1. The first indication that the game is going in the wrong direction is the absolutely ridiculous opening scene. Pink, frilly bubblegum love pop concert nonsense. Yuna used to be a deep character, battling her own inner demons and choices. Now she has been reduced to short shorts, lace, duel guns and catch-phrases with NOTHING to show for it.
2. The story-line sucks. The game functions as one mass of mini side-quests that the majority of which are REQUIRED to do to receive a "perfect score". I am the type of gamer that likes completing nearly all side-quests and getting most all items to give the game a "complete" feel. But this is absolutely ridiculous. You can fail to get a perfect ending by missing the chance to talk to ONE NPC character and executing one small action. And since the game works in "chapters", once you miss it, THERE IS NO GOING BACK. This proved to be the biggest, most frustrating flaw of this sucky game. I literally slaved away, with guide in hand to follow every small sub-plot-line and action to get the perfect ending, only to find, four chapters in, that I had missed a small "0.2%" completion action. Thus, the rest of the game is ruined and rendered "incomplete". I hate this game. I really....really hate this game.
3. By starting on an airship and having access to EVERY major place, it strips the ability to feel like you're moving through a story, or being drawn into a story. Not that the game has much of a story-line. Chapter 4 is spent WITHOUT the ability to choose where you want to go, and you have to watch these tedious, vapid "commsphere" movies to get small completion points. I really can't even mention everything that I hate about this game, because it's almost everything except the combat and graphics. If you enjoyed FFX, DO NOT play this game, it will ruin your vision of Yuna, and Spira. |

I'll tell anyone with an ear what I think about this game... or 2 eyes to read my review. It is absolutely awful. Not only does it attempt to throw mud on everything that was great and original about FFX, but the scariest part is it almost succeeds!
For those who seem to love this game (preteens and anime geeks, I imagine), let's break it down the same way you all did, only this is strictly for those who like QUALITY game play, QUALITY characters, and above all, NO JAPANESE POP SONGS OR POP PRINCESSES!
Plot: Like being trapped in the worst anime and having to play as the characters in one excruciating scenario after another. Yuna, Rikku (most annoying character from the previous game makes a new appearance! Yay!), and emo girl Paine are now singing sensations in Spira! Nefarious villains seem to dislike your newfound pop success, and in a pointless quest for mundane spheres, cackle and plot in such over-dramatic form it would make the Wicked Witch of the West melt in embarrassment.
Characters: The aforementioned Yuna and Rikku have all their most annoying traits laid bare in this game. While you could forgive the sometimes weak dialog and annoying vocal talents of them in FFX, they don't have such sweet characters as Auron or Lulu to balance them. Emo girl Paine is hardly a good enough replacement. "Oh, I'm sulky and beautiful and the world doesn't understand me. I'm going to funnel my angst into my songs."
Gameplay: The biggest difference between FFX and its sequel is the reintroduction of classes, a much-beloved ability that allows characters to assume the roles of mages, gunslingers, swordsmen, and other useful roles. Not so in this game. You switch between them in battle, meaning you don't stick with one class for longer than a few monsters, meaning you never associate any character with any one class, meaning they become frivolous fast. And who the hell wants to be a "singer" in the middle of a battle? Oh, right, preteens and anime geeks.
Music: *gag*
Overall: The darkest hour in Final Fantasy history was when this game was released. It's a discredit to other games such as the masterful FFVIII that are given the same rating on Amazon as this one. If you buy it, I very much hope you are only buying it to melt it into unrecognizable plastic so it can be recycled. Otherwise you are encouraging this scatter-brained drivel to be reproduced in the future. |

Being a huge fan of Final Fantasy X from way back when it first came out, I finally decided to give it's sequel a try. I actually forgot this game even existed for a long time but found it in a bargain bin and figured what the heck. I'm not disappointed with it considering I paid under $10. The turn based combat is quicker then any other FF game I've played. And it never gets too too tough as long as you're using the right strategy and have spent the time to level up. Graphics are also impressive...looking just as good if not a little better then FFX did. The biggest turn off is the light hearted story. FFX started out with a city being blow up. FFX-2 starts out with a pop concert. :/ I'm willing to put up with this because the game play is solid enough to make up for it.
Final Verdict: If you've never played Final Fantasy X before don't jump into this one first. Get both used and play them in order. |

| This game definitely has what I'd expect from a Final Fantasy game! Great graphics, excellent storyline, and easy-to-handle systems are definitely what this series is known for. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that this game is easy. On the contrary, it's very challenging! Not difficult, just challenging. You'll definitely need a guide though (online or in print) to find everything since there is SO MUCH TO DO!!! |

When I first saw the teasing trailer, i was about to fall to the floor and die. I wanted the game so bad, and it was all i thought about while i was in School. I even visited their website on a number of occasions. well, my dramatic acts were all for nothing. Its like waiting for santa to come down the chimney to give you a toy, but instead gives you a pile of crap.
The reason i gave it a low rating, was because this game did NOT CONCENTRATE on Yuna's mission. It barely explained anything. Yuna was ALWAYS distracted, someone was always in trouble, someone always needed her to do something, she was always in some kind of tournament or running errands. I mean this game should have been called "Final Fantasy X-2: Sidequest", becuase 80% of the game was just sidequests, had NOTHING to do with the storyline.
Yuna goes through a HUGE transformaton. she goes from this goodie two shoe I-must-follow-the-teachings-of-Yeavon down to earth Summoner, to this pop-singing, skin-revealing Sphere Hunter, she hopes to find these spheres that would explain why her beloved Tidus disappears or maybe hopes to find him again. She's more energetic, she's still loved by the people, you may encounter a few who believer her fame days are over and wont even bother giving her the special treatment.
The reason i say her missions barely have anything to do with the story is becuase she finds all these spheres and almost everyone of them is a disappointment accept one she found in Kilika of Shuyin. THAT sphere was a pretty good one, why couldnt they find more spehere like that one?
I wanted to know more about Shuyin, I wanted to Know more about Lenne and WHY they had such a strong connection to Yuna and Tidus, besides the dressphere she wore. They should have gave Yuna another dream where she woke up as Lenne and had the story shift into THEIR time and see how their lives were portrayed. I really wanted to know just STUFF about them, how did they meet! how did Lenne do in battle?
They do introduce some new characters such as Paine, LeBlanc, Logos, Ormi, Barilai, Nooj and Gippal. It would be nice if they made a seperate game for Baralei, Nooj and Gippal.
YOu can revist some places from the first Series and even speak to the same characters. the music wasnt really all that great, the moonflow song made me want to go crazy.
I have to admit, i did enjoy the battle system, the girls have a handful of dressphers to choose from, so i enjoyed all the different kinds of magic and transformations.
Yuna can play blitzball, but you can't control her, or anyone for that matter
there are 4 endings depending on what you do during the game.
The game was bascially just a charlie's angel type. three girls on random missions. *sigh*

| Honestly, this game is way more than I expected. I bought this being a little skeptical, thinking it wouldn't live up to the other Final Fantasy games. I was COMPLETELY wrong! The story's great, the graphics are amazing, and the different jobs are love! Definitely recommend this. |
