Works like a charm. I had trouble finding a cord to connect the power source to the transmitter. Finally got Radio Shack to construct one for 15.00.

"European version - worked for iPhone"

While on vacation in Scotland this last spring we discovered we'd forgotten to bring the charging cable for our iPhone. Driving from the Sterling area up towards Aberdeenshire on a Sunday, still getting used to driving on the left and traffic circles, we found a mall in Perth that had an open electronics store. Since this was the last urban area in our itinerary for the rest of the trip, we went in. This unit (the "ea" version) was the only thing we could find in the whole place that stood a chance of charging the iPhone (the connector looked about right), so we bought it - for about $40. It worked! The iPhone complained that it was an "unsupported accessory", but it accepted its electricity like a good little consumer device, and we had a usable iPhone for the rest of the trip! We kept it as a car charger for the iPhone once we were back to California (it still works, the iPhone still complains).
We were totally mystified by the DC adapter for the FM thing - it was not mentioned on any of the literature that came with the unit, nor the packaging. But there were a lot of mysterious thing about UK electronics and electricity.
Our advice is to not forget your chargers and adapters when you travel...
"Liked it until it broke"

It worked well for about two years (of very light use) and then the connector just crumbled into pieces. For an item that typically sells for $20, this isn't the sort of quality one should expect. I would look elsewhere.
"Faulty, Caused smoke"

Not sure if my item was an isolated case or if its a wider spread problem. I placed the cigarette adapter into my 12v in my car (Chevrolet) and all lights in the vehicle dimmed immediately for a quick second and then brightened back to normal. I tried the 2nd cigarette lighter outlet, same thing. What I did was just burnt out my two 12v fuses. I also tried it on another vehicle (Ford). This one it caused smoke. I wonder if the item was manufactured with backwards polarity; that the wiring was wired backwards with black to red and not black to black.
