| it doesn't have "by the way" or "around the world", so if you just like those two songs (and i don't know why you would like just those two songs) don't buy this cd, but i do recommend buying it though |

| I'm from L.A., and I remember (probably in the late 70's/80's) when RHCP was a local band playing many LA/Hollywood venues frequently. I remember them (and Fishbone) forever in the LA Weekly. This CD - I agree - so many good songs! A masterpiece. So talented! |

| i have really enjoyed watching this band evolve over the past 20 or so years, enjoying there music in my teens and exploring it further in my early twenties, it has lead me into interesting explorations always enjoy the lyrics which often have far more historical referrance than is easily recognized. I highly recommend the Greatest Hits CD with Under The Bridge as the first song. |

"(4.5 stars) RED HOT ! (Red Hot Chili Peppers' very successful Warner Brothers years)" | 2009-05-06 |

Red Hot Chili Peppers' Greatest Hits (2003) features the best music from the band's years at Warner Brothers Records beginning in 1991. This is the most commercially successful period for the RHCP, and casual fans will get just what they want right here.
The versatile Red Hot Chili Peppers are not very easily defined as being a part of any specific movement or genre in music. Whether it's their West-coast white boy funk, energetic electric rock or Hollywood pop, they do it all very well. They're an extremely talented band that can be sensitively compassionate on one song and then explicitly crude with a rap-metal attitude on the next. They're also masterful musicians and creatively colorful songwriters.
Naturally, this set begins with Under The Bridge from 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik; that's where RHCP's career took flight, too. Give It Away, Suck My Kiss and Breaking The Girl are also included here from that album. Californication (1999) is the band's best-selling album, and five of it's songs are featured here. The folkish and great My Friends is the only song included from One Hot Minute (1995), although Aeroplane or Warped could just as easily have made it here, too.
RHCP's rocking version of Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground is on the album even though it isn't from this compilation's time period. Warner Brothers had a contractual obligation to include one song from the band's catalog with EMI. It's a welcome addition, and so are the two new songs, Fortune Faded and Save The Population.
All in all, this Red Hot Chili Peppers greatest hits package is a winner. Some reviewers have said that the album's sound isn't up to par; I think it's just fine, and I've got a discriminating ear and a pretty decent sound system. If you want a good introduction to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this is the way to go.
I love all of you Hurt by the cold So hard and lonely too When you don't know yourself
