| I have always found this book to be an excellent resource; not just for recipes but for the items in the back that tell how to make substituion ingredients as well as measuring tips for when one forgets how to convert measurements. I now try to give this as a wedding present. |

| My husband bought this cookbook for me for Christmas last year. We have used it numerous times however my book arrived missing Chapter 6, Cakes and Chapter 11, Desserts. I love this cookbook as a whole but very disappointed its missing 2 whole sections that I WANT to use.... |

I originally owned the paperback version when it first came out in 1981.
I used it even after the binding gave way in several places~
It has been by far one of the most used cook books I have ever bought.
One variation of their Pear Upside Down Cake had sent me hunting this cookbook after losing the section of my paperback that held that recipe.
I had tried thru their company and web site to retrieve that recipe with no luck. Incrediably, Better Homes and Garden Cook Book recipes are not archived and can not be retrived. I no luck even on message boards.
So with the Holidays ahead, I checked AMAZON again and walla! An assortment of this one is available. I anxiously await its arrival.
You will not be dissapointed, even if in less than perfect condition. |

| I bought this cookbook, because the one I had been using since 1970 deserved to be retired. I had used it so much and it had been spilled on, slopped on and torn. This new book, although it has some great recipes and I still refer to it very often, is not as good as the old one. My biggest issue is that after only 2 years of use, the cover has fallen apart. The plastic shafts that hold the end plate to the cover, have been sheared and the ring mechanism is no longer able to be married with the cover. Not earth shattering, but a real pain to deal with if you use it a lot. |
