Eva Cassidy is one of those people who managed to get discovered for great talent even without the help of American Idol. And I am so glad, because her voice remained so true, clear and wonderful that she produced this and a number of other really wonderful albums before her untimely death. She has the kind of voice that makes you realize that only a very select few of singers really (no, really) can sing. These are all covers, and just simply wonderful, unique, beautiful, fantastic music. I listen to her albums when I want something smooth, something sweet, something unique, and something great. It's not "easy listening", or "oldies"; it's great music redone in a new and uniquely fresh way.

How can someone who has sadly departed keep getting better?! Eva Cassidy is one of those "lost voices" whose recognition came too late. What a shame... she had a BRILLIANT career ahead of her, and this album is as good as I had expected. No disappointments here for Eva Cassidy fans!

Another great album by a great singer taken from us way too soon. A voice suited for different genres, but especially at home in jazz or the blues. This is the fourth album I have purchased of Eva's and I have enjoyed each and everyone. Such a beautiful voice. A must have for Eva Cassidy fans.

I have just about worn out this CD in the first 2 weeks after receiving it..She does a great job on all the cuts but I just love The Water is Wide and You Take My Breath Away..2 songs I had never heard before this CD. What a shame we won't be getting more from her.

I first heard Eva Cassidy when a local shopowner played one of her CD. I went to the website and discovered that Eva passed away some time back. I bought 2 CDs and have been happily listening ever since. Her voice is sometimes reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt, especially when she sings blues. However, Eva has a soft lyrical quality in her voice, also, which is lovely.

Move over "American Idols" - this wonderful singer Eva Casssidy outshines them all. How unfortunate that she wasn't discovered in her lifetime. Every song is a winner - whether its the bluesy "Drowning in a Sea of Love", "Hallelujah, I Love Him So", the evcotive "Yesterday" and "American Tune" or the haunting and romantic "You Take My Breath Away" - Eva interprets and delivers each in an inimitable style that pleases every time. She has the ability to handle various genres of music and make each her own. Listen to the sound clips on amazon.com and get a taste of this talent. As many know, in 1996 Eva passed away at age 33 as a victim of cancer. Fortunately, her music lives on in these crystal clear recordings where we can hear her sing and play her guitars again - just like she never left us.

My wife asked me to buy this CD, b/c our local PBS station uses "You Take My Breath Away" in its station breaks, and she was fascinated by it. When it arrived, we played it, and sat and listened, all the way thru. When the CD was over, we then scrambled for the remote, and hit "play" to hear it again. When it was finished a second time, we looked at each other and said, "WOW!". This is our first Eva Cassidy CD, but it won't be our last! This little woman had a voice that would make angels duck their heads in shame. Speaking of shame, her unnecessary loss to cancer is a cryin' shame. If you're diagnosed people, PLEASE make your follow-up appointments!!!

Wonderful singing voice with a great variety of styles, Eva can sing anything from Blues to old classics and folk songs. Her voice and her own renditions can make an old familiar song sound beautifully different. Her Songbird album has her version of "Over the Rainbow" that could not be song any better, it is absolutely incredible!! I have fallen in love with her voice, her music and her story. It's such a shame the world has lost someone with so much wonderful talent and such a beautiful voice like no one else. She was such a gift to us all, once you hear her sing, you can't help but feel changed.

Eva is hands down THE MOST TALENTED female singer of our time. I spread her music to everyone I can using her CD's as gifts and I hope that is a way of continuing her spirit and paying tribute to her insatiable talent. If you enjoy her music, please do the same! Her music can be loved by music lovers of all sorts and is something new and different than taking a bottle of wine as a hostess gift to dinner parties!
