"I love these headphones" | 2009-10-28 |

I've owned these headphones for 3+ years now.
They have been dropped, sat on, banged about in a laptop case, and more. Despite the abuse they have absolutely no physical damage whatsoever.
These headphones also are remarkably comfortable. I wear them for hours and hours a day.
And last but not least, I think they sound great too!
You really can't go wrong with these. They were very well worth the money I spent on them. |

"Bose Triport around-ear Headphones" | 2009-08-28 |

| I really like my Bose around-ear headphones because they are very light weight and have great sound (to me). I thought they were a little pricy at first, but I have two other pair by competitors and found them to be too bulky. I have some health issues and I sleep with my Bose tri-port headphones on. I listen to a CD called "Sleep Deeply" and it really relaxes me. I went through two other pair of headphones before I tried Bose, and I love these. They do seem fragile and I did have to put a little tape on the ear pieces, but again - I sleep with them on. Most nights I sleep with them on all night. I paid over $100 for my first set. They lasted me about four years then one night I rolled over and the right ear piece wire got caught on something and pulled loose. I called Bose expecting nothing, but they gave me a replacemet pair for $60. I just had to send the old headphones back to Bose, but no big deal because they provided shipping label and everything. Maybe there are better sets out there, but for the money and support, I'll take these any day. |

I thought these were pretty good when I first got them - but that was upgrading from iPod headphones.
If you're willing to drop $150 for a set of cans, look into Grado. I have a pair of SR125's now and Triports aren't even close. |

"The best headphones available at this price!" | 2009-06-12 |

I have had this Bose Triport Headphones for over 2 years now and its by far the best sounding headphones there is. I also own a Bose Companion 5 Speakers system for my custom built computer and they work perfectly like these headphones.
I have read plenty of reviews about how people should avoid Bose products. I do agree to a certain extent. The Bose Home Theater systems are way overpriced and there are better other brands available that performs much better and for a cheaper price. However, when it comes to computer speakers and headphones, Bose is the way to go. I have owned my Bose Companion 5 and Bose Triport headphones for more than two years and I have had no problems with them so far. I can honestly say that it was worth the money/investment on getting these headphones and the Companion 5 Speaker System.
Once you hear the sound thats coming out of this headphones, you will never go back to any other headphones out there. Also, I read a lot of reviews stating how this headphones is very fragile. I do agree. When I first got this headphones I thought I was going to break this set but after having them for two years, I was wrong. I do take care of my electronics hence probably why mine hasn't broken yet. But if it does break, I will for sure get the same exact one. :)
I have had my friends borrow these headphones and they end up getting their own :) |

"Good for some purposes" | 2009-02-25 |

I have owned a wide variety of headphones and speaker systems, from dirt cheap to high end. I bought the Triports about three years ago and I have used them almost daily since. I have had no problems with cracking or anything else - they have proved themselves to be real workhorses. Although I used to use them on airplanes I switched to a pair of JVC noise canceling headphones a couple years back (the Quiet Comfort headphones are ridiculously overpriced) so I could listen at lower volumes on planes. The Triports sound better than the JVC's but I really don't like to crank the volume that much so I tolerate the JVC's.
My primary use for the Triports now is as monitors when playing drums. These phones meet my needs well for this purpose. I agree with the many reviewers who suggest the sound quality could be better but it's not bad - certainly far better than the Sennheiser HD-201's (I own these also) mentioned in another review. At nearly six times the price that is to be expected! What I like about the Triports is their light weight, comfort (on my head anyway), and fairly good isolation from outside noise. I can play drums actively for hours and completely forget I am wearing these headphones. I am not too worried about the sound because I can EQ my board feed to suit my own taste and after a bit of EQ tweaking these phones sound pretty good (no, NOT "audiophile good" but "good").
I also own a pair of Sennheiser HD-280's and there is no denying they sound a lot better than the Triports (to my ears anyway) and provide better isolation but they are way too heavy and clunky to wear while active. I have tried at least ten other headphones and in-ear monitors and none seem to balance sound and comfort as well as the Triports. I expect, at some point, to buy a pair of top-shelf in-ear monitors and have custom ear molds made but that seems to be the only better answer for my needs.
Regarding Bose in general, I think they deserve their reputation for overblown, overpriced marketing. Their products do not compete with true audiophile equipment for the most part. BUT...Bose does manage to shine when it comes to putting a lot of sound into not much space. For example, I have huge Klipsch tower speakers (100 lbs each) in my primary listening room and a set of Bose satellite/subwoofers in a sunroom where we entertain dinner guests. The sound in the listening room is vastly superior to the sunroom - no contest - but the Bose speakers take up almost no space and provide more than adequate background music. It's hardly fair to compare such products to each other. They each do what they do well. For good sound in small spaces Bose is well worth a look. |

I've owned these headphones for a while and every couple months they break. It's the headband that is so poorly manufactured, as the plastic snaps very easily, making them virtually unusable. Right now there are three places being held together by superglue, and these breaks weren't caused by dropping the headphones, it was regular use, putting them on and taking them off, that wore out the plastic. They sound good, which for $150 they should. I'm going to get a pair of Sennheiser HD201's for about a fifth the price if these break again. |
