I was forunate enough to be at the LA Forum show on 25Jun1972. It's the best live show I have ever been too. I have attended over a 100 concerts in my life and this one sticks as the best live show ever. I'm so glad they came out with the CD music from this concert. Now I can listen to the music from that special night again and again.

This is a Led Zeppelin record worth checking out, Led Zeppelin performing live from the mid 70's, the sound quality could be better at times, but all in all, you get a whole lotta live zeppelin, to listen to, and they are quite good as usual, playing their best material from this time period.

For 30 or so years, people lamented that Song Remains the Same just didn't catch Led Zeppelin in the right light, at least as a live act. This release seems to, in many ways, trump SRTS. You may not agree, but that's not important. What's important is that we now have a second live Zeppelin album, and it's a damn good one. I never expected to get more Zeppelin, much less a crisply recorded live recording of two top-notch shows in 1972. How the West Was Won is a Zeppelin fan's dream come true. Thank you Jimmy Page. That's it.

Led Zeppelin brings the old classics alive with this live album. For those of us too young to have a chance to see them touring, the three CD set shows what we've been missing. New twists on classic rock anthems abound.

Just buy the album, reading this review is a waste of time. However, if you're still unsure about getting this album, reading this review should help.

First, to get the stuff people might complain about out of the way, this album doesn't have as much mysticism as Led Zeppelin usually have. There is a decent amount, and it shows several sides to Led Zeppelin. A lot of people have complained on how Jimmy Page did a lot of re-editing, but people regularly take parts of different performance and put them onto live albums. Another complaint that people have had is that the improvisation isn't completely spontaneous, but there sure is A LOT of improvisation on some of the tracks. There also are some non-improvised stuff. It's also early, so some of the classics are missing.

I myself feel that spontaneous or not, it's still good, I think that there is enough mysticism of Zeppelin on this album, and it has both their loud side and their soft side. With a lot of live albums, there is a lot of re-editing and remixing, but that's not always bad. I myself definitely prefer the idea of unedited live albums, but this is still a killer album.

With the long drum solo, which was unedited by the way, John Bonham really has a lot of energy, and he really brings it out. Jimmy Page has some pretty good unaccompanied, and accompanied solos. John Paul Jones shines on bass, keyboards, and mandolin. Robert Plant's singing is great, but he's also a pretty good harmonica player.

I agree with Jimmy Page that this album shows Led Zeppelin at it's best and How the West Was Won. I think that BBC Sessions is a good companion album, but I really feel that this is the album.

BUY THE ALBUM ALREADY!!!

In my opinion this is the definitive live album from the greatest rock band of all time. I would say this is Zeppelin in their prime, but after seeing footage of their 02 Arena reunion in December '07 it appears that they've never left their prime. Needless to say, this collection is fantastic from beginning to end. From the extended guitar solo on the Immigrant Song to the extended jam on Whole lotta love, this album delivers. If you want Zeppelin baby then you've got it!
