Here is what people are saying about the The Goal
5 Star Rating  "The Goal for all"2010-03-10
- Reviewed By Francisco G. Hernandez from San Diego, CA
I'm a first year MBA student with 8 years of professional experience and a PhD in science. The Goal (book) was part of our required reading for our "Operations, Information Systems and Data Analysis" class. Because of my hectic schedule, sitting down and reading The Goal required more time than I was willing to give. So just listening in the car on the way to work, or sitting at home laying on the couch decompressing seemed like an optimal option. They have done a great job in the narration, which helps "getting into" the story. The audio CD's are high quality though there are lots of them, 11 to be exact. As far as content goes, The Goal is an excellent description of what is known as the Theory of Constraints (TOC). It helps evaluate your current process (not just in a production environment) and understand where you can improve. The interviews at the end are excellent for extending the use of The Goal to many other fields. I highly recommend it.

5 Star Rating  "Goal is a wonderful book"2010-02-20

I read Goal many years ago and later bought it for my daughter who was doing her MBA as her personal copy.
My take from the book is:
The goal of business is to make (more) money, which is done by the following:
1. Increase Throughput as throughput is the rate at which the system makes money.
2. Reduce Inventory
3. Reduce Operating Expense
I have used this book and read it several times as its novel like fluency keeps me spellbound.

Who new that reading about manufacturing could be interesting. This is a great book. My dad enjoyed it too.

5 Star Rating  "Best Business novel that you can't put down."2009-12-26

I was assigned this book as part of my Operations and Supply Chain Management course in MBA. I must admit it was refreshing to see a business book that didn't feel like a text book. It's a great book. Business lessons conveyed in a plain and simple real life scenarios. Anyone who is interested in running a business, executing a project or simply managing a household can benefit from this book. Once you start you simply can't put it down. Goldratt has done an awesome job with this book.

After reading this book, whenever I hit a roadblock in any of my projects, my brain starts on 5 steps starting with what is the constraint and how do I relieve it. I don't manage a factory, rather some high tech projets in avionics industry. And I feel lucky having read this book.

I had to purchase this book to read for a business class at school. It was interesting, but not my favorite type of book.

5 Star Rating  "I'm glad this was required reading"2009-11-14

This book was required for a business class I had, and I'm very happy for it. What a great alternative to reading textbooks, and I can say I retained more information about business operations and business in general than if I had to read from a textbook. Kudos to my professor!
