anyway who does not like this book, must actually ENJOY working in a grey stifling machine...for those of us who struggle daily to keep our brain from exploding while doing all of the crazy things the borg demands, this is a breath of fresh air....as some reviewers have said, it is not a 'guide' in the sense that there are a lot of concrete actions described...however it is chok-a-block with inspiration that there ARE ways to survive and thrive and be productive in the borg....i read it when it was first printed, and adopted some orbiting strategies then....now i have returned to it, during a particularly grey period, to get further orbiting inspiration....hooray for orbiting!

I am, in fact, encouraged by the negative reviews on here, which seem to be based in part on the way the book was written.

MacKenzie's style is certainly atypical. His book is more like a personal journal, containing the odd newspaper clipping, the occasional scrap of paper from someplace else, and more than a few little doodles. I suppose for some, this could make the book "hard to read," although such an opinion says a lot more about the reader's inflexibility than it says anything about the book. The entire point of the book is thinking in new ways, not being limited by constraints, and exploring the freedom to live life the way you wish --- with both positive and negative consequences.

This book changed the way I think about a lot of things, and I recommend it to others very often.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is an engaging look at strategies for being to use right-brained approaches to business problem in environments where that is not really culturally acceptable. The author's presentation with drawings, notes, etc. is very interesting and alone helps engage your right brain in the topic.

Highly recommended

A great read. Refreshing stimulation for predominately left brain oriented people - what a nice treat for the rest of the brain! The author does an excellent job or describing creative ways to survive and even prosper in most corporate cultures. The formula discussed provides hope for all those people who are struggling to be themselves, be creative, but remain somehow connected to the organization in which they work. Bravo to Gordon MacKenzie for showing us another way of achieving this balance.
