"Good quality for the cost"

Mine is in my second outlet in the arm rest since it is slightly closer to my low profile antenna in the back. Signal strength is moderate even with a not so great antenna. It may be best to expect some static here and there though. Since my tape deck started acting disgruntled about being used by a MP3 to cassette converter, it was my only viable option. I am quite pleased.
"Happily Surprised"

I have heard that FM transmitters have yet to reach a point where they are really worth the trouble and the price but was I ever surprised. I believe it is a good value for the price so it's something you can risk shelling the money out for.
First off I have a long and traffic laden commute into and from work. The radio is fine in the morning because I get to listen to Elliot In The Morning but going home is a chore especially when what's on the radio is not to my liking therefore I decided to bite the bullet and try my luck with an FM transmitter. I looked at quite a few but decided to get this based on it's low price and it's majority of good reviews.
First off let me set the environment this device is being used in.
Car: 2006 Mazda6i Sport with Bose sound system (antenna is along the center of the room near the rear window and the plug is at the bottom of the center console)
Location: Washington DC metro area
Commute: From Montgomery County, MD to Arlington, VA taking the Beltway and GW Parkway
Music source: T-Mobile G1 playing Pandora Radio or Toshiba Gigabeat S 30GB
I like it's simple and utilitarian design but it's still a bit stylish so it doesn't look out of place in the car. The numbers are easy to read and backlight is enough to see the numbers in daylight. Unfortunately the only time that backlight dims is when there is no music playing otherwise is it very bright, especially at night. Wish I could change the color from bright blue to red so it'll match the lights that are in my dash, otherwise it can be a bit distracting.
The buttons have a nice clicky feel so you know you have pressed it and they are raised enough off the body so you can actually find them while keeping your eyes on the road. I do like that the range of frequencies you can use is pretty big and you find the frequencies you like and set them as presets. It also remembers which frequency you were on last if you accidentally bump it out of its plug or when you shut your car off. My iRiver has an issue in that it doesn't seat very well in the plug. When pushing the buttons it would come out a bit and lose power and I would have to push it back in. However as long as I don't fiddle with it too much it'll remain where it is and won't power off during my drive.
Thankfully I found three good frequencies that work during my commute. Of course there are good days and bad days where the music I hear is crystal clear or there are instances where the static over powers the signal. This most likely has to do with the ambient temperature as well as the weather and humidity and such of the day. For the most part however I get to listen to what I want and that's what this is supposed to do. I do have to say that the majority of the time it does produce sound better than regular FM. I am no audiophile but to my ears it gets very close to CD quality. You should choose a station which has about 85% static to 15% actual signal where you can hear the station, otherwise you'll get only static or only the station coming through.
When using your phone or media player for music, make sure you don't put the volume all the way up otherwise you will get static during portions of the music. I've had to set my music volume to approximately 50% on the G1 and to a volume level of 15 on the Gigabeat. You will get a slight hiss during quiet portions of music if you amp your cars stereo volume up however while barreling down the road you won't hear it over the road noise and the music. Also when you get to listen to the music you like while stuck in traffic it doesn't really matter.
"Worked as advertised"

The unit worked as advertised. At first I thought there was a problem as it would go off by itself but then figured out it does that when it loses the audio input. It is nice to have a wide choice of frequencies to choose from.
"Great product for the price and sound quality"

The sound quality is a lot better than other transmitters I have tried. The only negative is that when you're playing it and it loses a signal, it makes an annoying loud buzzing sound before it tunes out. My friend has this as well and likes the product. It's a great device for the price.
"Not super, but more than enough to listen to audiobooks"
I knew nothing about MP3 FM transmitter when I bought a $3 one online. But it was a waste of time. Then I saw this one with 600+ good reviews. And it turned out to be pretty good for me too. Recommended.
"The best"

This transmitter works reliably, what else can I say? Excellent signal strength, good sound quality, it just works. I hestitated to buy this one because of the shipping costs. I tried two others that I bought locally but had to bring them back to the store because they were too weak. This one is well worth the price.
