I can't claim to be a speaker 'guru' but when I was looking for external speakers for my Macbook Pro, my search began at the Apple store. I listened to a variety of speakers below 200 dollars including the Bose companion 2 series. The Bose sounded just like any ol' speakers - really nothing special. There were a pair of JBL speakers that were also nice but I wasn't quite convinced at the 150+tax price they were listed at.
I came across the Harman speakers and immediately the rich sound grabbed my attention. I tried these speakers on a couple different occasions and seemed like these would be the perfect fit (especially at $111 on Amazon.com)
I got these speakers today and it took me a grand total of 10 minutes from the time I received the box to the time I was listening to music. I am not the most technically savvy person but after all there are 3 wires - so even I could figure it out :)
The sound from these little things is enough to fill my medium sized office at home and they look solid. A GREAT buy for anyone looking for a basic pair of computer speaker. Volume up/down, Bass adjuster and power button. Simple enough for me :)

The Soundsticks are really good looking but the speakers are too small (or poor) for the volume they try to sound. When it was supposed to work the best (low frequiencies when the subwoofer really gives it all) the speakers make that hideous fuss typical of cheap speakers... A real disappointment.

Great Set Of Speakers I've Had Them 4 Years And They've Been Thru Hell Literally!. I Love The Full-Bodied Sound With Strong Mids And Great Bass For a Little 2.1 Done Many Parties With Em, Even Some Big Ones. The Right Stick Casing Came Unglued A While Back But This Has Not Affected The Sound Just Fixed It Up With a Blue Rubber Band. Great Conversation Piece.
