This is the best can opener that I have even owned. I have had one for many years now, The original recently was dropped. Otherwise it would probably still work fine. I hope they continue producing this product for decades to come.

I had one of these for almost 2 years, it was great until it wouldn't take a charge anymore. I did make sure it was discharged fully before plugging it in, but now it won't hold a charge. I would not recommend it, did not last long enough for the cost of it.
The Black & Decker Gizmo Electric Can Opener is a fairly handy gadget that works well on most standard cans. I like that it is cordless, hence portable, and the charge does last a long time. The issue I have seen is with very small single serving sized cans and jumbo "institutional" sized cans, but otherwise it has exceeded my expectations.

I love my Gizmo. I originally won one but sadly, it just died one day. I went on the internet and found where I could purchase another and did just that. I have trouble with my hands and the Gizmo saves me time and energy. Please don't stop making the Gizmo.

The Gizmo is the best can opener I've ever had. Its easy to use and easy to clean. I had one for about 5 years and was very upset when I dropped it and it broke. I couldn't find it anywhere but was thrilled when I found it on Amazon. It was easy to buy online and was delivered quickly.
I don't understand why this item has received so many bad reviews. Lucky for me I picked 2 of them up at a local discount store for around $9.00 each prior to reading the reviews. I have the model that doesn't come with the wall attachment which is fine since I've run out of wall and counter space (it sits on a shelf). If you take a moment to learn how to line up the cans with the blade you will have no problems. With large cans get it started and then let the gizmo go allowing it to walk itself around the can. With small cans hold on to the gizmo, keeping the handle down firmly and allow the can to rotate..don't hold the can down against the counter since it has to move freely.
The spring loaded "button" isn't really a button at all, but a quick release magnet that holds the lid until you can position it over the trash can..just give the top of the lid one sharp tap on the top with your finger and it should drop off..no need to get your hands messy. If you try to push what looks like a button it won't release.
I haven't had to charge up the battery yet, but as previous reviewer's have recommended you should allow it to fully discharge before recharging or you will not be able to get a full charge in the future (technical stuff I don't fully understand myself).
Good luck with your Gizmo..I look forward to using mine!
