| This ice shaver is easy to use and creates shavings very close to the texture of snow. Do not use regular ice cubes because they slip and do not shave properly. The ice formed in the included containers works wonderfully because it stays in place and shaves very quickly. This product can easily be used by a child over the age of 6 with the supervision of an adult. |

| I bought this for my two children to enjoy when they are being good. It works well enough but if you fill the bin with too much ice it will not spin. I noticed some people here saying it was a dud when they got it but I bet you they didn't bother to check that. There is a switch underneath the motorized unit and if the activator on the bottom half does not activate the switch on the top half it will not work, hmmm, what a concept. It works fine for the cost and it provides pleasure my children will enjoy as long as it lasts. |

Pros:
-Ease of use. Just place the ice and press the top. Tip: Do not press too hard and press on the side where the blade of the shaver is.
-Cleaning is easy. It is just water, so you actually just need to rinse it. I do not know if the blade rust, but make sure it is dry before you put it back to the shelf.
Cons:
-You can not use the ice cubes from your refrigerator which is the most convenient source. You have to use the supplied ice container, fill it with water and freeze it first. Make sure you do not lose them for they are the perfect ice shape, it even has ridges at the bottom to make the ice clamped to the shaver ice holder. It would be better if they give you 3 or 4 containers instead of two. For a family of five, you need more ice.
I tried only a couple other shavers, but I do not know any other that is better for this price. |

| Love the Snowman Ice Shaver. Easy to work, easy to clean. Makes great snow cones. We keep it healthy with plain ice or frozen fruit juice - even works well with chocolate milk. Our son loves helping me make the snow cone and enjoys every last chilly bite. Great value. |

| This product performed as hoped. I would recommend using the ice molds that come with it -- you get a finer shaved ice than with regular ice cubes. Also, you don't have to buy over-priced syrups for it. Just get some frozen juice concentrate in a flavor you like -- it works fine. In Hawaii, they put the shaved ice & syrup over vanilla ice cream -- try it, it is really yummy that way. |

I chose to purchase this based on the glowing reviews and let me say that I am thrilled with this product because it delivers consistent, shaved ice, just like you'd get at a shaved ice stand from a fancy, expensive machine.
The blade inside the ice holder is exposed and is sharp, so if you have it in your head to let the kids do this, I'd think again.
All you need is some ice (I use standard cubes out of an ice tray) and sno cone paper holders or small ramekins or use the two molds that come with this to hold your shaved ice. You also need some sno cone syrups. Target sells many different flavors during the summer. Hawaiian Shaved Ice sells every flavor imaginable through their website. You will also want some plastic spoons or straws.
This is quick to make. I can make a sno cone every 30-45 seconds or less and had about 8 people wanting one last weekend and was able to churn them out in a timely fashion.
You will not find an at-home machine that makes truer shaved ice. I adore mine and appreciate the reviewers that recommended it. |

| Very good electric shaved ice maker. Easy to use. Makes a small shaved ice cone in less than a minute. Shaves ice fairly soft with little effort. | After reading some positive reviews I decided to give this machine a try. I figured I couldn't go too wrong over $25 or so. Got the machine yesterday and it is well worth the money. Comes very close to the quality of the $1,000+ commercial machines. Glad I didn't waste the money on a fancy machine now! You can't go wrong if you just want a quick snow cone for the the kids once in a while. |

| This is a great machine and it's very simple to use. There's only one button--you press it to start and release it to stop. I use the ice molds that come with the machine. I find that the ice shaves faster and smoother once the ice has sat out for five minutes; otherwise, the machine jumps around a bit and has a rough time shaving. I found a couple of round, tupperware containers, the same size as the ice molds, from my local thrift store, so now I have extra molds. Each piece of ice makes a good size snow cone. This machine delivers the snow! It's fun and refreshing. |
