| The Krups 203-70 Fast Touch Coffee Grinder has exceeded all my expectations. Before ordering, I did quite a bit of online research looking for something to use specifically as a spice grinder and wound up here. Amazon also has the lowest price, great service and low shipping cost. I placed my order online late Saturday afternoon and it was leaning against my front door the following Tuesday. That's hard to beat. Due to a recent medical condition, I've had to completely change my diet to a very low fat and under 2000 mg sodium daily diet, so I'm using herbs spices like crazy and needed something that could not only combine a good mix of these, but turn them into a powder. The Krups 203-70 does exactly that... My first test was a teaspoon of whole fennel seeds ground continuously for about 8-seconds (shaking the Krups up and down so none would be lost under the blades) and a fine powder came out. So fine that static electricity made a good bit cling to the clear cup/lid.. like talc. The cup has a very smooth, non-textured finish that cleans easily. Instead of rinsing it under water, I just closed my eyes and 'puffed' into it.. all gone. Same to the blade area. Of course, some aroma remains inside and can't be rinsed away, but the next use will just absorb it and leave it's own. I'm not grinding anything with oils so I'm not expecting any discolorations, ransid oil odors or greasy residues that may also stain... none of that. The most surprising feature is how quiet this is. The only grinding, crunching, rattle noises are from what you put in it, like peppercorns. The motor on this is whisper quiet.. it's spooky g. One thing though... the first time you start it make sure you're holding it with both hands. There's lot's of torque in that little engine. I'm using this exclusively for herbs spices so there should be no strain at all on the motor and, hopefully, will last for years to come. I've had it now for almost 2 months and if it failed to work today, I'd buy the same model new again in a heartbeat. Cord length is about 24". Had to squeeze that in... It's hard to find a review that mentions the cord length on anything. |

| I love this coffee grinder. It is well designed. However, I have gone through 4 grinders in 6 years. The grinder is easily damaged when dropped, even a short distance (12 inches). I have not been able to get replacement parts. Which is why I have gone through 4 grinders in 6 years. This grinder does a great job, when handled with care. The other Krupps grinders seem to be appearance motivated than performance motivated. |

"Still grinding, after all these years" | 2008-09-23 |

I had one of these for about 5 years. Eventually, it developed a few cracks and I had to replace it. It didn't take too long, a couple of years ago, to find the exact model I was decommissioning at, amazingly, the exact same price I paid for one the first time I bought one.
Operation is easy. You feed it some coffee beans and it grinds them. Not much else to say, really. It's durable, quick and dependable. After 2 years, it looks as good as new and, if it begins to crack after a couple more years of operation, I don't mind. I'll probably end up buying another one of the same. |

I purchased this grinder 9 months ago, and have been using it grinds 6 lbs of coffee. It works well for me - the only coffee drinker at my home.
The mechanics are solid. The motor is powerful and smooth, and grinds 3 spoons (maximum capacity) in 10-12 seconds to a quite fine grounds. The grounds are quite even. It could make the coffee beans really fine grounds by grinding 5 more seconds. The inner side of the grinder is very smooth. With a brush, it can be easily cleaned. But you need a brush ($5).
The grinder is also very secure. The trigger button is concave - without the lid on, one cannot trigger the grinder and hurt oneself. In addition, the power cord is really short - one must disconnect it to get the coffee out. Some people may hate this but this secures our fingers.
As a lot of reports saying it dies after 12-15 months, I will follow up here. |

| I have been using this product for two weeks. So far, I haven't had any problems, but I have experienced that if I use it for grinding 5 oz. of coffee at once, in small batches, it starts to smell like something burning. |

| Just as good as I expected. Grinds thoroughly and evenly. About 3 oz. at a time. As fine as you like. We've only ground about 2 lbs. so far but it's Cuisinart predecessor quit on it's first 3 oz.'s. Uses very little shelf space. |

I've been using this model for years, and just bought a new one. My prior one lasted roughly 7 years (guess) of fairly regular use. In my case, I mostly used it for grinding my own spices, rather than for coffee.
COFFEE (4 stars): As indicated in magazines like Cooks Illustrated, this unit does a very adequate job of ginding coffee beans - provided you master the skill of replicating the optimal degree of grind for different uses (i.e., automatic drip, espresso, percolator, stove-brewed turkish style, etc.). However, any serious coffee aficianado will quickly agree that a proper "burr" will almost always yeild better more evenly ground results than a buzz grinder like this one. Still, for what it is, and for its price, it's still one of the best 'buzz' grinders available.
SPICES (5 stars): After blending and toasting my own whole spices (for things like fresh homemade garam masala, sambar masala, etc.), I let them cool and then grind them with my trusty krups, which, in 2 passes, can grind enough to fill a standard spice bottle. The only spice the krups (and all comparable models) has trouble with are whole cloves, which tend to be very resiny, and clog the machine.
OTHER (5 stars): Although not really designed for it, the krups can do an adequate job of: grinding dried rice and/or dried lentils into a very fine grit (but not quite a true flour). It can also grind small quantities of granulated sugar into confectioner's 10x sugar.
Bottom line: It's strong, compact, powerful, durable, simple to use, fairly easy to clean, and inexpensive ... what more could you ask for ? |

"Perfect for Grinding Seeds, Grains & Nuts into Flour" | 2008-08-04 |

I know that this is a coffee grinder and I bet it's great for that too. It's solid, small, nice-looking, and operates quietly. It's got a stainless steel interior and stainless blade as well. It seems to be built to last. If fingerprints on appliances bother you, consider getting the white one since the high gloss black plastic casing was filled with fingerprints after a use or two. It cleaned up nicely, though.
In spite of its name, I bought it specifically to grind tiny chia and other seeds, nuts, and mung beans to create flours. It does that amazingly well.
I am delighted with this little machine and highly recommend it and as usual, the Amazon price is great ! |
