I have a small kitchen and an only-occasional need for a blender or food processor. I have used this two of three times so far, and it works great. The blender has a full-sized capacity. The food processor is in between a full-sized Cuisinart and a mini-chopper. It has worked as well for me as a full sized Cuisinart except that you have to process smaller amounts at one time (1.5 to 2 cups), and it is really, really loud. Think jackhammer, ice-crusher, key-making machine.....On the plus side, the bowl and cover fit together and onto the base much easier than my 1970's model Cuisinart, and both the processor bowl and the blender container come apart from the metal components for easy cleaning.

We were in the market for a new blender, but once we saw this product with a larger food processor that would be convenient, we were sold. The product is well made and relatively easy to clean. When we first received it, my wife took everything apart and washed the parts in the dish washer. When we first used the product, it was somewhat difficult to get all the parts back together properly. I'd suggest doing the blender and food processor separately to avoid having to figure out what goes where. The product performs as advertised. Like that the electrical cord can be shortened easily (stows in base). We are very happy thus far. Little concerned with some of the other reviews that state that the link between the motor base and the blender is weak, but this product has been on the market for 5+ years and I think this area has been made more durable.

I used my Duet Blender/Processor primarily for making protein shakes each morning, and it worked fine for about 2 years. Then the bearings in the base began to malfunction making the blender work very hard to turn the blade. So, I checked with Cuisinart about a replacement blade unit. The price of $15 didn't seem bad, but then they wanted $10 more to ship it to me. You can buy the whole unit for about $80 these days, so I can't justify spending 1/3rd of the cost of the whole unit for just that small item. I'm a bit concerned about many of the other reviews when I think about how much longer this unit might last even if I do buy the new part. I'm going to go out and see what's on the market.

I checked out the appliance ( Cuisinard food processor ) at the store prior to purchase, I noticed the feed tube did not seem large enough to accommodate lemons/Limes, but the box showed beautifully sliced Limes, I went ahead and ordered it, When it arrived I was reassured by a picture of the processor holding very thinly sliced Lemons, so! It was just a matter of reading the instructions, Nothing there.....I called Customer Service to be told it wasn't possible to slice either lemons or limes, when asked about the pictures on the box and intruction manual, I was told that was decided by the adverising dept. Oh really? Very deceptive and disappointing.

I love the blender/food processor. I use it daily for protein shakes and fruit smoothies and it does a great job blending up anything from bananas to ice cubes. It is not too loud and it is ver versatile. I love it and I would buy it all over again. The price is great for what you get.

I purchased this product in 2005, and I didn't use it that often, maybe once a month average? I had to replace the blender blade around 2007 because the bottom plastic part under the blade that gets locked into the motor (don't know what you call it) broke. It wasn't too expensive to replace and it works fine after that, but then I don't use it that often so that's not really saying much. I noticed recently (2009) that the food processor makes this really loud ultra-sonic noise when I use it, and it wasn't that loud in the beginning. I think something's wrong with the food processor base that locks into the motor (the black part - it's called the gear box collar) and I will likely replace that too for 20 dollars plus shipping. All in all, you're not getting a quality product if your buy this, because the plastic parts are too weak to handle all the grinding and crushing. If I had to go back I would invest a little bit more to buy a higher quality product.
