My Henckel knives were dull ... make that VERY dull. I made multiple passes with each knife through the two slots on this sharpener. It took many more passes than the five recommended in the instruction sheet, but the knives got sharper with every pass. Considering how dull they had become, I think the Twin Sharp Duo did an admirable job of bringing my knives back to a point where it's a pleasure to use them again.

Another plus is that the sharpener's rubber feet did an excellent job of keeping it stable while sharpening the knives.

I bought the Duo Knife Sharpener because my Wustof sharpener was wearing out. (I bought the Wustof when it was the only one in stock, and I've never been happy with it.)

When I ordered the Henckels Duo,I was ready to bring my knives in for their annual sharpening at the local kitchen supply store, so instead I tried the Duo sharpener as soon as it arrived. To my surprise, it sharpened all my knives, and I didn't have to take them anywhere. I only needed to use the coarse wheel at first, just a few pulls through, and then the fine wheel touched the knives right up. Now I touch up the blades nearly every time I use them, with the fine wheel, just to keep them "tomato" ready. They stay nice and sharp. They aren't razor sharp, but sharper than I was able to keep them before. I suppose I will need them commercially sharpened again sometime, but right now I'm happy with them the way they are.

This knife sharpener is an excellent product to use, if you use it correctly. I "HAD" several old knives that were as dull as dull could be from decades of use. Most required five pulls through #1, and four to fives pulls through #2. Yet when they came out of the sharpener, they are as sharp as I had hoped. Also it literally only took seconds to sharpen each knife. I insert the blade into the sharpener as vertical as I can, and pull the blade through slowly, I get the best results. This seems to resolve all the problems others have reported, at least for me. Are the knives factory sharp? By no means are they. Yet the knives are sharp enough to do what they were designed to do, CUT safely. This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone who would use it correctly.
