We bought two sets to replace an old Victorian looking set that was never really my style. We are very pleased with them. One of the special features is the sharpness of the dinner knives. They cut through steak with such ease! That is a pleasure-not to have to put out utilitarian looking steak knives!! My only complaint is a very minute one, they are beautiful and shiny when you take them out of the dishwasher, but as soon as you touch them you see prints. I find myself shining them up before I set them down as if I were polishing silver. That aside, I am very happy with them.

So here's the deal: I received a set of flatware for my birthday that didn't really go with anything I had. Was nice, but not my taste. So I decided I would take finding the perfect set into my own hands/eyes and set out searching. Fortunately, I came across the Henckels Opus set and it seemed to have everything I was looking for: simplistic yet modern design, sturdy feel, and quality material (everyone seems to chant "18/10! Get 18/10!"). Unfortunately, I came across the set at Macy's and spent $20 more than I needed to had I searched on Amazon first (and no... I'm not working for Amazon). Oh well. My set came and it was exactly what I was wanting. The hold is natural in the hand, the forks are STURDY, and the knifes are quality to the tee. In looking at other reviews, people need to understand that flatware will WEAR over time. I don't expect these pieces to stay shiny and new. What's more, I just got back from visiting friends up in Seattle who have this SAME set, and have had it for 5 years. Still looks great... well used, but great. Hopefully this will help you on your search for flatware bliss.

I am really impressed. After reading the reviews I was a little skeptical, but for the price I could not resist. I haven't owned them long, but have washed them, put them through the dish washer and "tested" them with numerous teenage boys and had no problems with breaking, cracking or rusting. They seem strong, yet comfortable to handle and just the right weight. I may just order another set since the boys have a habit of "losing" them in the "man cave".

We bought this set a couple of months ago and are still loving the look and weight-in-hand of the Opus set. The only problem, which I had not forseen before purchasing, is that they have to be placed "heads down" in the dishwasher basket due to the slim handle. I would normally alternate "heads up" and "heads down" in the dishwasher to avoid the items from nesting and not coming out clean, and so my diswashing scheme is a little less efficient than before. We do like this set enough to keep rather than return, but I just thought this might be a useful tidbit for someone thinking about purchasing. Our dishwasher is a common Kenmore model.

I purchased this product having only seen the picture on the internet. It is high quality. I didn't think I would like the narrow handles, but I really do. It makes them a little more lightweight. 18/10 stainless is important. 18/0 has no nickel in it. I'm happy to finally have flatware that doesn't look cheap and bend if I stick it in something a little harder (like ice cream).
