| I have been listening to portable music players for over twenty years. These phones have it down. They sound awesome! Bass response is good, not overdone nor just not there. Treble is good. I little high in the midrange, but what portable phones aren't? They are way comfortable to wear and fold up nicely to fit in a bag or pocket. Sennheiser did their homework with these headphones and it shows. Buy them you'll like 'em! |

I got these for my iPod to use around the house. Not for airline travel (use CX300s instead) but at home when I cant use my stereo and I want to know whats going on about me!
These headphones rock. The bass is really good and better than much more expensive headphones. Midrange and treble are also very clear and sweet. And equally important, you can wear these for long periods of time with no discomfort. They really are a best buy.
Negatives: they are open, so will not isolate you. Also am worried that the foam/sponge ear covers will rot, and I dont know where I will be able to get replacements.

"Will sound better than what you probably expect." | 2009-06-14 |

It's been slightly over a year since I bought the PX-100, and it's still working fine. I originally bought this due to overwhelmingly good reviews in head-fi forums, and because I needed a compact headphone to bring along in airplane trips. It has since become my main headphone for a while now. Bass and treble are excellent and far better than what I anticipated. Sounds especially good with jazz and classical music.
For it's price/performance, it's hard to find a better substitute.
Pros: - Excellent sound quality, arguably comparable to Sennheiser's other HD series headphones. - Foldable to be more compact; comes with a case.
Cons: - The ball joints holding the cans together look and feel weak. Although I've yet to break it, it's probably a good idea to be careful when folding. - Cord seems to have gotten a little lose on mine after a year of use. If they get too lose, audio will probably be cut off on that end of the headphone. - No 1/4" adapter included. |

I've owned these headphones for over a year now and I must say that they are superb - easily as good as my larger and more expensive Sennheisers.
I don't typically write reviews but I recently decided to upgrade my Zune phones and decided to compare a pair of Philips SHS8200 (behind-the-neck) and some Sony MDR-21LPs (both in the $15-$20 range). Once I received them, I decided to test them both against my Sennheiser PX100s which are faithfully connected to my PC. It was no surprise when the PX100s won the competition but here are the notes I took during the test:
First, I tested all 3 with an original recording of the Eagle's Hotel California. It has a nice bass guitar line and that ol' familiar 'twangy' guitar at the front plus a nice powerful 'bump...bump' before the vocals kick in. The Sonys had extremely nice highs but the bass line was not very clear and they easily bottomed out (with distortion) on the bump...bump. To my surprise, the Philips were much better and performed fairly well against the PX100s although the PX100s had a much fuller mix of sound and the bass line was much more realistic and well defined.
Secondly, I tested the 3 sets with Evanescence's Bring Me to Life as it has some nice piano, some almost subaural sound effects at the beginning as well as some fat-n-juicy distorted guitar which doesn't sound good in all phones. Needless to say, the tiny Sonys did not handle the distored guitar line very well nor did they know what to do with those strange subaural sound effects. The Philips however did better but the guitar line was still a bit overbearing until I tweaked my EQ a bit. The PX100s handled the subaural bits the best as well as the guitar lines although I still had to tweak the bass down a bit on the EQ.
Lastly, I tested the 3 phones with Madonna's Hung Up for its nice bass line and disco beat. The Sonys performed OK but the bass beat was distorted. Again to my surprise, the Philips and Sennheisers performed very similarly although I still prefer the more well-balanced mix on the PX100s. The Philips still accentuated the treble more than the Sennheisers.
In the end, I was left with a renewed appreciation of the PX100s for their extremely well-balanced and realistic mix of sound. Nothing is really "boosted" or "suppressed" - just a nice accurate representation of the music.
P.S. The PX100s were the most comfortable of the 3 pairs as well but then again, I'm used to wearing them for hours and hours on end as I happily blast through my favorite FPS or watch endless re-runs of Lost on the internet in hopes of finally being able to follow the storyline. ;) |

The PX 100 headphones have great sound almost unreal for the money. This is the 4th or 5th set I have purchased and recommend them 100%. The one this you need to take into consideration is these headphones are not extremely durable. I wouldn't recommend these for kids or any "rough" use. Frankly they are not meant for that hence the reason I do not deduct for durability. Also if roughed up the foam speaker covers can come off fairly easily. You & I will simply put them back on; kids may not and loose them. By the time you find replacements it would be less aggravating to purchase new headphones. Sennheiser does provide a well designed case to protect the headphones while not in use. Bottom line: People who will take care of the headphones and want a budget set with excellent quality = YES Rough use (ie: kids on school bus) = NO

I do not pretend to be an expert when it comes to headphones.
My son wanted to replace his earbuds, still in good condition, for over the head headphones. His says that he does not find earbuds to be comfortable.
These Sennheiser fit the bill. They are not too expensive, and they are collapsible, making them very convenient. The open design allows air to circulate.
My son likes them very much.
I recommend them. |

PX100 has excellent sound quality. I use it with my ipod Touch and I find it a great combo listening to music as well as podcasts. This is small enough and takes very little space in my cabin luggage or laptop bag. This does not block all outside noise (and I didn't wanted it that way) but does a fantstic job for its price.
