These headphones have excellent sound quality, especially in the Bass ranges. The foam pad is very comfortable and does not hurt my ear, even after hours. It requires a little more effort than most headphones to roll the cushion, put it in your ear canal, hold it and wait for it to expand, then carefully remove hand, but it pays off with noise reduction and great sound and a snug fit. The dark purple plastic is a little strange, and they do look funny, but that is a very minor detail. Great product.
I use these with my Sony NWZ-S816 Walkman, a unit with incredible sound. I was skeptical because of the price, but decided to take a chance based on reviews. Used properly, they sound fantastic, and are far better at blocking outside sound than any noise canceling headphones I've used. The first time I used these, I cut the usual music volume level I listen at in HALF. Yet while on neighborhood walks while I was wearing them, even passing trucks were almost inaudible. Every sound is clear.
Inserting them is somewhat difficult, but no more so than using foam ear plugs. They're at least as comfortable as any other soft ear buds I've used.

My 3rd pair in 5 years. I have tried several other (ones up to $50/pair) but kept returning to Koss.
The foam based ear plugs fit snugly and also make them external noise proof. They are perfect for gym workouts since they don't fall off even in the most vigorous exercises. I also prefer their bass setting especially for the kind of music I hear at the gym.
I've had 2 of these Koss Plugs so far and am about to order my 3rd set.
So far, each set I've had lasted over a year with regular use. That is all i expect from something that costs approx. $15.
They sound great for the price.
This is a great "bang for buck" item.

Purchased in 2007 and used for 2 years. Pro: These are what I use daily and I find the sound to be at least very good and perhaps excellent. They are comfortable and do a good job blocking the noise on airplanes. They are very inexpesive, and so a small investment if any of the negative reviews prove true for you. After 2 years I am ordering a second pair.
Con: The foam is held in place by a tiny plastic tube that fits onto the earbud and pierces the foam. If the foam comes off the earbud, and they will from time to time, it will likely have caried the tube with it. It reattaches easily. Occationally I have stuffed the earbuds into a shirt pocket or a travel bag instead of a container. Sometimes the foam and tube will disattach itself, roll away and I find myself searching under the benches in the gym locker room or under all my neighbors seats on an airplane. If you have lost the foam and the tube, you may have difficulties effecting any kind of a repair. This is one reason I am reordering, to have a backup.
