Fits very confortable in the ear. Excellent sound, better than other Sony headphones tested by mi at a Sony Store in P.R. If you don't want to pay $99.00 for a BOSE ear plugs, you can choose Sony MDR-W25G S2 Sports, and you will find there is no such a big difference when you weight the sound vs the price.

3 Star Rating  "Big drivers.... too big to fit in my ears."2008-02-16

These have to be one of the most uncomfortable headphones that I've used. I got these for jogging, because I found that the in ear styles fall off to easily, or the sweat just builds up. These allow sweat to escape easily. However, these things are incredibly uncomfortable. I guess it's because they try to make the drivers bigger for better sound quality. I have to squeeze them into my ears, and it just hurts, and is uncomfortable. Now don't get me wrong, the sound output isn't bad. But the way they fit in my ears, I don't get any sound out of my right side because it's such a tight fit, and the sound goes right into the side of my ear canal.

So, I have to wear these loosely, but when I do that, I lose any benefit of the larger drivers because it ends up allowing too much ambient noise from getting in.

I wish there was a way I could measure my ear canals so that this would actually be useful to anyone reading this, but if you think you have big ear canals, these might fit well and feel comfortable to you. But to me... these things are horrible.

4 Star Rating  "Sound is fine, getting too bulky"2007-12-14

The Sony vertical headsets are good products because they have historically been reasonably small, so you could pull a stocking cap over them when running outdoors in the winter, and since they are 16 ohm units, they provide decent volume, unlike the cheapie earbud 32 or 64 ohm impedance garbage.

However, this particular model has grown (physically)- the white band on the side shows how much fatter it has gotten, so they bow out a bit when being worn. I prefer the previous simpler item (MDR-W08), which I no longer find in my local Target store.

4 Star Rating  "If you don't like earbuds"2007-10-24

I searched high and low for headphones I can wear jogging or at the gym. I find the "earbud" and "over the ear" styles annoying and uncomfortable and I HATE it when other people have their music up so loud everyone around them is subjected to their usually bad taste in music. This seems to happen more with the earbud headphones than with other types. In any case, I have asked my friends if they can hear my music with these headphones and their answer is always "NO". Having said that, I don't have a desire to go deaf in the next five years, which means I keep the volume at a moderate level.

Also, I don't need to look "cool" - I just want good sound quality and headphones that will stay put and not hurt my ears. The sound quality is superior to the other brands in the same price range, but these headphones are not meant for listening to opera, either, so don't buy them and then complain that you can't hear the third violin.

As for staying put, these do. And, if you are a small person with a small head, then these are great, as other brands in the same style were simply too big for my head even when fully retracted.

So, in a nutshell, if you want headphones for excercising only (but not bike riding with a helmet on, as someone mentioned), then these are great. The only thing I wish is that the cords were retractable so I wouldn't get them tangled all the time.

These headphones keep the sweat out better than other similar athletic headphones. These are very affordable and the sound is OK, not great. Someone else mentioned that they are not durable and I support that. I have gone through 4 of these in a year. They tend to break at the joint. Before you buy check out Sennheiser PMX 70 Sport Earphones. I just bought these and I admit they are more expensive, but these have a single cord so the cord does not become twisted and they are made of a firm but flexable material. I have only run with them 2x they are comfortable although they do look a but weird.

3 Star Rating  "Not what the description is at all....."2007-02-20

The description of these is wrong, wrong, wrong. the frequency response is only 20-20,000 hz, not 10- 20,000 hz. and the sensitivity is only 104 db not 108 db like the description also says. I have 3 different pair of in-ear headphones and I have tested them all to the same song and the same mp3 player and all of mine are the same. I have the following models: mdr-w08, mdr-w014 ?, and my new ones mdr-w25g. All of them are the same so don't spend the extra money like I did. They work great and are great but if you are expecting a better sound and response you will not get this from these compared to other sony in-ear headphones. I am a total Sony headphone geek, I love the quality. Just don't buy the most expensive as most ofthem are the same. Good luck.
