Here is what people are saying about the Manduka BM71 71-Inch Yoga Mat (Black)
1 Star Rating  "Not Sticky enough"2009-10-16

So I went with the buzz and got myself a manduka Pro. I know a lot of people say it's awesome but I still don't get why. I have been washing it multiple times the way it says on the instructions and after two months - I'm still slipping! I don't care if it's going to last me a lifetime if it means every time I am trying to concentrate on my pose- I get distracted by me slipping. I am getting used to putting another basic mat on top of this manduka - just to get by my class. Is this why I spent almost $100? To put another cheap mat on top of the "holy grail" of mats? So, no- I don't think it's worth the price because the one thing a mat cannot have is that it let's you slip.

I love the mat. The only small problem I had with it was waiting for the film to wear off. I tried washing it off as the directions suggested but it only helped a little bit. After about five or six yoga classes, it finally wore off.

5 Star Rating  "Very Stick Mat"2009-09-25

I bought this Mat for my P90x routine. I had no prior experience with yoga but read that this was a good mat. Upon receipt, the mat has a REALLY funky smell...no doubt due to it's rubber-makeup. It made my entire bedroom smell like rubber for several days.

After the smell subsided and I began to use the mat, I realized quickly how important it was to have a sticky mat. This mat is very very sticky to the touch and prevents slipping even when I have sweaty palms. I wish the mat was a little wider and longer and I would like to use it to absorb shock when I do other exercises such as plyometrics and kenpo.

All in all I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I would note that this is a very heavy mat and not one you would want to lug around while traveling or back and forth to the gym or yoga studio...I would leave this one in place at home (or at the office) and purchase a lighter mat for traveling, vacation, or the lake house.

I purchased this mat after my yoga teacher recommended it. It's perfect. It's thick and comfortable, not sticky but keeps me in place. It's easy to clean and seems like it will last a lifetime. Well worth the price when I compart it to my $40 mat whick was falling apart within a year.

5 Star Rating  "Best Yoga Mat Ever"2009-09-10

Practicing yoga one or two times a day on hard wood floors on thinner mats causes my knees to hurt in some postures. The manduka blackmatpro mat is larger so other students don't set up too close to you, and it also is thicker, so no more knee pain!

This mat is sticky enough for regular yoga; however, I practice hot yoga, so I still need a Yogitoes or similar towel to prevent slipping.

People complain about the weight of this mat, which I agree is rather heavy compared to other mats, but if you can do yoga, you can carry this mat to and from your class.

5 Star Rating  "The best mat out there!"2009-08-22

This is an excellent mat for all purposes. I never need to double my mat, even with a knee injury. Some people have complained that it is too heavy to cart back and forth to class, but I think most yoga students are plenty strong enough to carry 6 pounds (especially if you get a shoulder strap or bag). When I go to class, I don't want to think about my mat. This one allows you to focus on your movement and breath, not on how much your mat is moving or isn't giving you enough cushion or support.
