"My Favorite Gift!" | 2009-11-17 |

This is one of my all time favorite gifts. My husband got this for me last year (2008) and I love it! It is perfect for my needs. I almost always use it for the dictionary and not for any of the other features it has.
It doesn't come with a travel case which in my opinion is a mistake. I read some other consumer reviews from people who said that their unit died on them. So, I went out and purchased a Case Logic portable Hard Drive case for mine. I tend to be pretty careful with my stuff as a general rule but still I didn't want my dictionary to accidentally get wet or knocked on the floor.
So far, so good, it's been a year now and it's still working like new. I haven't had any problems with it and I'm hoping I won't. I use it regularly and I am very, very happy with it, I love it! |

"dig it, but durability is questionable, and possibly outdated." | 2009-11-08 |

I treat my electronics pretty well, but only about a year into owning this and not using it as often as i should there is a defect that comes and goes: A vertical line the color of the background has appeared in one spot. Depending on what letter it crosses it can make it pretty difficult to read.
This is by far the best most comprehensive device solely for dictionary/thesaurus/grammar, but considering the applications that you can download for your cell phone, i'm beginning to think it makes little sense to have a device like this.
I also prefer the merrium-webster dictionary to the oxford. But this is still good. |

"If you play Quiddler" | 2009-11-05 |

| This dictionary is perfect for travel. Word games like Quiddler and Crosswords are much more enjoyable. College students and anyone who does a lot of writing will find this little tool very accessible with it's display of possible words as you enter the letters of the word you are looking for. If your need is for more indepth usage of words these electronic dictionaries are not for you. |

"crapped out after 18 months" | 2009-10-13 |
| - Reviewed By User: A1FDH349KTDS46 |
| This was such an awesome electronic dictionary. But it randomly stopped working after about a year and a half. Similar to other reviews where this has happened, the screen just randomly went blank. After fiddling with the battery, the screen would come on asking me if I wanted to initialize, then it would go blank again if I touched it wrong. I think it's some kind of issue with the battery compartment, who knows. Considering that the exact same thing has happened to other reviewers, I'm guessing this is a fairly common occurrence for anyone who has used this product for over a year. It's a well designed dictionary, but it's just not built to last. |

"Yes, it's probably in here" | 2009-10-09 |

| I purchased this for my honey, who is often greeted with the desire to use a word but can't quite spell it correctly or sometimes wants to find a good alternative to an overly used term and badda bing...there it is! The type size/font is great! The manner in which you can search seems very easy to me...I am a computer user but at age 44 I have earned it. If you work in the dark often or low light situations then this might be a challenge as I believe it does NOT have a backlight. Other than that...I think for the price and the reliability and ease of use it will get FIVE stars from me. My honey is going back to college...so this type of item gets used a great deal! I read one review by a guy (perhaps you did too) who is a 'writer' and likes it too! How can you go wrong? |
