"Noise Reducer"

This headphones are a great buy for the price. I have used them 5 times in an airplane and they reduce the noise for about 60 to 70 per cent. I tried the expensive brand (200/300 dollars)and the difference is very very minimal. The only drawback I find it is the design. The headphones cups do not fold inward so they are a little bulky. A little tie on the ears but this style of headphones are this way, no matter which brand you purchase. I'm very satisfied with the performance and the price. The delivery was good too.
"Excellent headphones for the price"

These are excellent noise-cancelling headphones for the price. I used these for over a year overseas and they worked great. The retractable cord is outstanding when you are not plugged in to anything, such as on long flights.
The sound quality wasn't the best, but that is the trade off for the lower price. I used these for casual use almost daily. The noise reduction helped greatly when trying to relax with the sounds of generators, air conditioners and people walking by. All I heard was a nice buzz in the headset. With music playing it eliminated the distractions around me as I relaxed.
Batteries lasted longer than I expected (months), as long as I remembered to shut it off when not in use.

The noise canceling works pretty well. The sound quality is ok. Practically NO bass tones. I like the retractable cord. But, it is about one foot too short. This is really a noise canceling device, with the plug in audio sort of thrown in.
The best features of this headphone is the retractable cord and value. I travel on the plane a few times a year and I love using this headphone. It cancels about 70% of the engine noise... I'm sure you can get better results with pricier headphones but you can't complain for the money you spend. The retractable cord is very useful though you have to tilt the earpiece in a certain angle (= final folding position of the earpieces) to get it to retract. Just play around with it to figure it out. It's probably a safety feature so you don't accidentally whip yourself with the cord, like a cell phone earpiece (real annoying).
For newbies, the over-the-head headphone does take some space in your luggage. Folding it up doesn't really reduce the space it takes that much.
"Great headphones, bad retractor"

I purchased these headphones before going on a vacation which included 37,000 miles of flying. The noise canceling was excellent throughout the trip, it blocked most of the annoying drone of the plane, and the persistent crying of any children behind me. Also, another excellent plus is the fact that it only takes one triple A battery, and has yet needed changing during the two months that i've been using them.
RETRACTABLE WIRE: I took a lot of time reading reviews about all kinds of affordable noise canceling and this was by far a good set. Would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the only setback being 1 week after getting back from my trip, while watching something on my laptop, the retractable cord suddenly wounded up and smacked me in the face and now the retractable cord NO LONGER stays retracted, and winds right back up every time i pull out. Its as if the locking mechanism suddenly gave away.
Good thing is, there is a 12 month replacement warranty on it that I saw online. I will be calling in for a replacement within the next day and will update on the result. Warranty is great, but this is gonna be terrible when its out of warranty or if it happens again with the new set(or most likely a refurbished set). And to top it off i have to deal with the hassle of the replacement process.
I wish they would allow you to access the retracting mechanism so that you can just possible remove it in case its broken and just have the wire hanging out. Rather than me having to hold it while using the headset.
Overall, very good sound, however, I am disappointed with having to replace them because of the retracting wire.

JVC HANC100 Noise Cancelling Headphones This product works well at cancelling noise and has excellent sound quality. The headset is very comfortable for general listening but can be a bit uncomfortable after long flights and sleeping depending on how you rest your head. It allowed me to sleep well on a 17 hour flight for the first time and I will certainly use it more often.
