The approach and editing of this DVD reminded us of Baby Einstein...they show, for example, a dog, then they show a very pretty Scandinavian woman smiling and doing the sign for "dog," then they might show footage of dog toys padding across the screen, then back to a real dog, all accompanied by favorites from classical music played in a scaled down way, probably electronically but sounding like xylophone, piano, etc. It's fun and well put together. Like Baby Signing Time Volume 1 DVD it can be watched by any baby or infant--you don't have to have a goal of your infant learning to sign. I must say, though, that we liked Baby Signing Time Volume 1 DVD even better--as my review for that product explains.

My daughter is just turning 17 months and we have been using all 3 my baby can talk DVD's since she was 9 months old, she knows nearly every sign on all 3 dvd's and uses them in her daily life. This is a fantastic tool and I could not imagine raising my daughter and not being able to communicate like we can with the signs she has learned.

When I first watched "First Signs" I thought give me a break, this is so lame. But it shows what I know, my daughter loved it, it was like baby crack. At 9-10 months she would watch 25-35 minutes straight before she would loose attention. To contrast we tried some of the Baby Einstein sign videos when she was around a year old. They are more glitzy and have the TV Actress Marlee Matlin signing. But my daughter didn't appreciate any of that production value, she barely paid any attention to them at all.

I tell everyone I know with infants about these DVD's and recommend them at the highest level.

The seller first sent me a wrong item. I emailed the seller about it and after a couple of days I received the correct item. I would say the overall transaction is ok although there was a little confusion at the beginning.

My daughter enjoys this DVD! It definitely keeps her entertained!

What I like about this DVD:
I like that they use both real and toy examples of many of the words (e.g. video of a real dog running and a toy dog on a string)
I like that they say the word and show the sign multiple times intermingled with the examples
I like that they show a toddler doing the signs
Some of the signs are quite useful - Eat, Drink, More, milk, shoes
Some of the signs have the potential of being useful as first signs - go, dog, cat, car, book

What I don't like about this DVD:
I think many of the signs are NOT terribly useful as "First Signs" - Bear, bird, bunny, butterfly, cow, duck, fish, horse, mouse, and of course my favorite... dinosaur (how often does that come up in every day conversations?)
I would have liked to see some more useful signs like - mother, father, sister, brother, juice, water, potty, bed, please, thankyou, sorry. I understand some of these may be harder to illustrate but at least they are useful! come on!

The My Baby Can Talk videos are the only ones that hold the attention of my 15-month old. I ordered all three; we watch at least one every day. It's only been a couple of weeks, and he's already signing eat, more, cereal, milk, hat, shirt, shoes, hat, and ball. We are very pleased!
