I bought this book for my 18 month old daughter. It took a few times before she seemed to like it, but now it is one of her favorites. The pictures in the beginning are dark (it is raining) but I think that was an initial turn off to her. Once she started to get the story she seems to understand, and always points out that is is raining at the beginning. A cute nap/nighttime book.

My two year old grandaughter and I read this book over and over. The story is sweet and the illustrations are fabulous.

A fun book for children along the lines of The House that Jack Built. Everyone in the house is asleep, piled on top of Granny.... except for that pesky flea....

The kids love the repetition and I love to read it. I also love Silly Sally, by the same author. Something about the beat, or cadence to the sentences makes these books more appealing.

I ordered this book with the impression that it was "New". When it arrived, the paper cover was torn on the corners and the cover as well as pages in the book looked sun faded. It smelled as though it had been sitting in a attic for years. Had this been a book just for my own kids I would have been able to look past the fading of the pages but it was a gift for my niece which I felt horrible about giving to her. It just looked cheap and I suppose I should have just bought it brand new at a store.

My almost-3 year old daughter loves this book. I prefer to read it to her before bedtime or a nap; but she asks that I read it to her at random times throughout the day. She loves the cumulative narration and likes to finish the last two sentences on each page herself. The illustrations are interesting, warm, and soothing...perfect for bedtime. The book also interests my 12 month old son despite that it is longer than most books he loves. I highly recommend this book to add to your child's library. Tomorrow, I plan to get another book by the same author.

Any child will love to listen to this story that is full of repetition and stylish drawings. The characters seem to come to life as they are introduced page by page. At the climax of the story the wakeful flea bites the mouse, which causes a chaotic chain reaction in the bed. One cannot help but laugh, child or adult! The way the characters pop out of bed one by one is truly entertaining and imaginable. I read this book to my class at least twice a year. The laughter becomes louder and louder as each page is read!
