I have never even written a review of a book before this one, but felt compelled due to it's success. I have been a non-smoker now for over a year, and I definitely credit this book. It tells you to not quit smoking until you are through with the book. I read about half the book, then put it down and smoked for a few more months, and felt terrible doing it. The week I finally quit, I was sick with an awful cold yet was STILL choking down cigarettes. I knew that was the perfect time to stop, since I wouldn't want to even taste a cigarette for a few days. So I finished my last smoke, told my friend "that's it, the last one," and then I went home and finished the book. There is definitely some repetitive language, and some oddly written chapters, but the information and the way it makes you think about smoking, is invaluable. I also gave the book to my pack-a-day cousin and he quit as well. It really works. You can't imagine how good it feels to be a non-smoker, and this book makes you see that. If you are ready to quit, give this book a try.

I really enjoyed this book. I was instructed to continue smoking until the completion of it by the author, and found there were many humorous points interwoven with the facts. I refreshing approach to anyone trying to quit. Highly recommended!!!

I smoked for 15 years even with chronic asthma. I tried to quit 13 times, but it was this book that helped me stop smoking. I can't say anything better than the other 500+ five star reviews of this book. I just wanted to add my success to the group! Hooray for Allen Carr! Hooray for this book! I'm free!

I don't think I can add a lot to all of these other great comments, but this book helped me quit smoking after 15 years (and a decade of trying to stop) at the age of 30. Yes, it's repetitive. Yes, it's a little corny. Get over it. It works.

I will add that Carr's advice to quit without any sort of physical or chemical aid may work for most people, but it doesn't work for everybody - it didn't work for me. Because they don't replicate the habitual behavior of a smoker, nicotine patches and prescription drugs are totally compatible with Carr's method. They can be a big help for people with violent tempers, bad anxiety problems, and other psychiatric conditions (like bipolar disorder) that can be triggered by nicotine withdrawal.

That is to say, if you read the book, and following Carr's instructions didn't work for you because the withdrawal made you go crazy, just buy some patches or get some pills and read the book again. No nicotine gum, though. He's right about that stuff.

Thank you, Alan Carr, for helping me get my life back.

And those of you who still smoke? If you're reading this, you clearly want to do something about it. Stop making excuses and take care of your problem. You'll be so much happier once you do.

I had complete success with this book, i have been smoking for 18 years only about a pack a day. But, even then i knew it would be tough. I would read the book and feel it working, i would have to put it down and not open it again for a few day because i was not "ready" yet. Well within 30 days i completed the book, picked a day according the the Farmers almanac and just quit. I smoked my last smoke at 730a.m. on my way to work, and said that was it... That was my last smoke. It has been 5 weeks, and i have not once regretted my choice. Even while drinking, i don't crave smoking at all and feel sorry for the people that are trapped by this "habit" I had one of the worst weeks ever after i quit almost seemed like everything that could go wrong did, but i maintained a positive attitude and stuck it out... if i can do it even in the worst of times... so can you
Read it, believe it, do it... You to can be a stress free non-smoker...

February 4th 2010, will mark my four years without smoking thanks to this book. I know it sounds strange that you can read a book and stop smoking when you probably have tried many different ways before without any kind of real success, but if you are ready to start a new life, smoke-free, purchase this book.

What do you have to lose? A few bucks and the short amount of time it takes to read it? Isn't that worth a shot?

Although the book is very repetitive and seems to tell you things you already know, it's a process, you just need to trust it - it works. And even though you think you love smoking and just can't stop (like I did), you can do it. I used to smoke a pack of cigarettes per day (sometimes 2 if I stayed out late)for about 13 years. With this method, I did not experience the horrific cravings that I had the previous times I tried to quit smoking, or the agitation, and I did not gain weight either. My desire for cigarettes just went away and that was it!

To be honest, I thought this book was not going to work for me. I was close to finishing and still hadn't had this "revelation" that I was supposed to experience. I only had 2 cigarettes left in my pack and still wanted to smoke just as much as before. I went outside to smoke one of the final two, returned inside and continued reading and then, finally, I GOT IT. I understood.

Later that night, I smoked my last cigarette and it was over. I don't ever think about smoking anymore.
