This is a useless money waster. The diapers are in an enclosed space and therefore they REEK! Get yourself a small cheap waste basket, line it with a plastic grocery store bag and take the diapers out at night when you put your baby to bed. You will save a ton of money and won't have to deal with diaper odor. My daughter is 7 yo and has special needs. If I don't have problems with a 7 yo's diaper odor you certainly won't with your baby. My diaper genie was smelly, expensive, and awkward to use. I would pay someone to take it away if I hadn't already thrown it in the dumpster.

I didn't know too much about diaper pails so when we got this, we thought it would work wonders. Wrong! The pail still has smells and you have to buy special containers to refill. My daughter goes though about one bundle a week and then we have to change it. We still however use it. It's been with us for about a year but I am defentially looking for a new one. Just make sure you have an air freshener near buy when you're changing the pail.

This takes two hands, expensive refills, and it still allows the smell. Not worth it at all. We went to a regular trash can that we empty in the evening! So much easier!!!

I purchased the diaper genie based on previous experience with my mom using it with my much younger siblings. And my baby boy is almost 1 month old and we have had to empty it twice and we're still using the refill that came with it. What i love about it is how easy it is to use it. It does open with one hand, don't listen to the other reviews they just aren't using it right. There is a small notch, about the size of a nickel under the button that opens it, it's there for you to slide your finger under and use your thumb to press on the button, and WOW...it opens with one hand :) Yah it does make a crinkling noise when putting the diaper in and a cranking noise when turning the dial on top, but that doesn't bother me cause i don't want my baby to need complete silence to sleep, i think it's better they get used to loud noise's now and learn to sleep through them. Also it's really easy to empty, just use one hand to push the cutting button and the other to turn the dial, open the bottom and you have a nice strand of diapers tightly wound ready for the trash. Also we haven't had any problems with smell,and it's currently in our bedroom next to the pack n play. Definetly worth it, just don't buy it here, we got it locally for $25.
I purchased this product but after about a week of use I realized it just wasn't for me. It seemed like a waste of money when I could just walk the diapers out to the trash and save the hassel of the diaper genie. I ended up selling it to a neighbor for half the price that I paid but at least I didn't waste tons more purchasing all of those refills. :)

We bought a diaper champ which we use downstairs and the Diaper Genie for upstairs. Well... the Diaper Champ's been great but I as soon as I run out of Diaper Genie bags I tossed this diaper pail into the trash can, it would not keep the smells contained, you have to push the nasty diaper down with your hand and the bags are too noisy for 2-3 a.m diaper changes. I replaced it with a Safety First diaper pail which has been great so far after 1 month of use.
