"A great book if you want inspiration to continue building your network" | 2009-09-03 |

This one deserves 5 stars for it's ability to communicate a seemingly simple idea about working with others. I learned a lot from Ferrazzi's account of his success.
First, I genuinely love the idea the pie getting bigger. So few people look at the world this way as it is truly an evolved state of human affairs to see the success of others a your own success and see that sharing and caring, when genuine make for a full fun life.
I wish I was brave enough to do half the things in this book! He spends a fairly quick chapter on how to think about getting over the fear of speaking to others. I think there could be volumes more, but since the thrust of his book is not this manner, he sites, probably one of the foremost experts on the topic, Dale Carnegie (How to make friends and influence people).
What he adds to the discourse is similar to the book "THE SECRET". Know what you want, and pursue it. Realize that you are not alone and that if give to the world and look around you and not just at your goal you can make small victories that collectively add to large ones.
I think it's fantastic that he speaks about his own errors, misdeeds, and embarrassments. When we look at the successful, it's often hard to realize that they probably had more than 1 set back. The difference is in how they handled adversity.
I also really enjoyed his discussions on how he came to know his "calling" and what he wanted out of life. It makes you really want to do some soul searching away from all the complex notions of what you should want and go for it.
5 stars go to both great articulation and some decent tools with which to move forward. |

| If there's one book I wish I'd read when I was sixteen it would have to be this book. It's also the book I would insist on being mandatory reading for anyone who's serious about owning their own business. In this book, Ferrazzi distills the fine art of networking and explains just how important it is, as well as sharing his own tips and tricks for effectively networking. All of his ideas are useful and if you implement only a few of them, you'll still see some changes. I've already noted some positive changes in my business because of executing his concepts. I highly recommend this book as an excellent guide for how to network successfully and most importantly how to succeed by genuinely taking care of the people you know and letting them help you as well. |

| LOVED this book. It is truly an eye-opener. Brilliant. Relevant. And most importantly generous - full of actionable advice. No doubt Keith is a networking guru. But he is also open and honest about his life's philosophy, not afraid to admit his early professional mistakes and is truly passionate about helping people achieve their highest potential both personally and professionally. |

| Truly excellent book, especially for someone like me who hadn't appreciated the importance of networking in business and in life. Yes, as some have pointed out, Ferrazzi drops lots of names, but each story illustrates an important point. For some, "Never Eat Alone" could be a life-changing read. It also got me thinking how some successful businessmen who've practiced and honed such "hyper-networking" skills their entire career should stay out of politics: Networking is in part about doing favors for others, both for its own sake and in anticipation of others repaying your favors in the future. But what may be considered perfectly ethical behavior in the business world may make for bad habits in the political world. |

Keith Ferrazzi has taken his own stories and has woven them through this entire book to illustrate "why" and "how" his networking tips work.
I cannot think of anyone who would not gain from reading this book. It is great because each chapter finishes one of the networking points so it is easy to pick up and put down.
There are wonderful one liners in there that make you go --"Wow, I hadn't thought of it that way.

This should be required reading for all past, present and future people interested in having a great fulfilling life. No matter what your chosen field may be, it shows you life should be about caring and sharing in your family, your friendships and your work environment. If we all had these values set in our minds, every business, school, household, church, government, etc.; would be so much better. Helping each other to obtain whatever goals we have set would be possible. Modern day version of the old "Do unto others" commandment. |
