I bought this 16 GB stick for its large capacity so I could move data from an old computer to a new one. The old one was not on the net, did not belong to me, had a DVD burner that failed and was located some distance from my home. The first thing I found out about the drive is that it is extremely slow. I began putting 12 GB of data on the drive at 9 AM and by 2 PM it had stored only about 6 GB. This was fine because I had the rest of the day and evening to complete the transfer, however, just after 2 PM I encountered the second problem. If two files on your computer hard drive have the same name and are in different folders, the transfer stops. The slow speed and inability to copy files with the same name from different folders really reduces the usefulness of this memory stick. Other than this limitation, I have not had any problems with the stick and use it daily to move much smaller amounts of data. I bought the stick about a year ago.
"Many early failures with PNY drives: AVOID!"

Sadly, after 15 months, our 8gb PNY Attache drive developed the dreaded "write protect failure." If you search this issue, you will see that many PNY drives develop this failure. We have lots of thumb drives, and never had one fail before. Don't buy PNY.

The price was good, and it has a stap/keyring loop, but my keyring wore through the plastic loop in only a few weeks. I need a more durable drive that this.

It works - if it holds 16GB, it is awesome. We'll see. I'll buy another one if it does.
I have used many different flash drives and external hard drives for back up of important data (writing mathematics texts with a large volume of graphics). I have put thousands of hours of work into this project, so I make sure to back up regularly and with multiple sources.
I work on two different computers and regularly move my files from one computer to the other by using a flash drive.
Probably because my documents include huge amounts of graphics and video, my (brand new) computers occasionally freeze up and I lose the work since my last save. Also, because of the huge graphics content, I have had many flash drives and 3 external hard drives fail and lose the documents backed up on them.
I have used PNY drives of various sizes and other brands for years and I have never had any failure of any type from any PNY drive.
Also, the PNY drives are considerably faster than all the other flash drives that I have used (Sandisk, Corsair, Kingston etc.). My Maxtor One Touch 4 hard drive is faster than the PNY flash drives, but obviously not as portable. I have not used the Maxtor hard drive for long, so it hasn't had the chance to earn my trust like the PNY flash drives.
Bottom line: If you want a flash drive that you can depend on, my experience says use PNY.
