"Reliable machine" | 2009-06-19 |

Since purchasing this item in 2005, I've tried and tested about 20 different routers from D-Link, Linksys, Netgear, TRENDnet, Buffalo, and Asus. The recent ones have prettier cases, flashy LCD displays, streamlined shells w/o antennas, and 802.3(u) along with 802.11 a, etc. Judging from these newer products and the technology rule that things go obsolete within a couple years, this would be a terrible purchase. But it's not.
It has great range (better than 90% of the newer products I tested) since my house is ~15k sq ft (both steel and wood frame) and being mounted on a wall on the 3rd floor I can easily surf the internet in my kitchen.
It has superb reliability in terms of providing a constant connection. I have about 8 computers in my house ranging from entertainment desktops to netbooks. I have used both Windows XP (Home/Pro) as well as Vista (Home Premium/Ultimate in 32 and 64-bit) in addition to the PS3/XBOX 360. All of these devices connect easily with WPA-PSK security and all have 80% or above signal strength (only 802.11 g remember).
I'm a pretty tech-savvy guy so the couple times a situation arose where it wasn't functioning (P2P network port access), I found a solution within 30 minutes. My ISP d/l speed is around 30 MBps and I get about 7 MBps on all devices. The newer routers barely gave me a %10-15 performance gain yet sacrificed reliability by %50 (dropped connections every day). If Gmail takes 3 seconds versus 2.5 seconds to load but with guaranteed internet access, I prefer the former.
Buy this router ~$40, no more than that. The $200+ price listed on here through this vendor is theft. If you're still hesitant about buying a 5-year old machine, go with the TP-LINK TL-WR642G $35 or Asus WL-520gu $40. |

"Unmatchable Range!!!!" | 2009-04-26 |

| I have tested almost 6-7 different routers lately, this is by far the farthest range router ever built to date! It is a bit old technology, around three years because the company that made the chip got bought by another company. I will be watching for the next generation to grab one. the three antennas makes it easy for our 6 clients to connect in the same time without feeling of any bottleneck. The installation procedure is not perfect, so you better know what you are doing however the Belkin helpline is usually good. I want to note that I drove around the house passing about 6 houses in each side (around 350 feet each side) and I could still connect and surf the internet. |

"Belkin beats LinkSys in Wireless N any day!" | 2009-03-10 |

| I started off my home network with a Linksys wireless N. My router is in the basement lower corner of my home. We sometimes use our laptops in the bedroom located on the opposite corner and 2nd level. LinkSys did not provide enough signal strength. I returned it and researched feedback and reviews for Belkin Pre-N model. It wins hands down and going away over LinkSys in speed and range. For all of you reading this... don't let a newer model make you think it is better than older models. Buy this and be happy the first time. And for everyone that had Belkin support issue reviews, please note that I received immediate help and pleasant phone conversation. They solved my issues the quickly, the first time, and with a smile. I run three computers at the same time on this modem and one is a VPN connection. |

"Worst Customer Service and Some Product issue" | 2008-07-25 |

This product has some known issue after firmware upgrade fix. Router hangs sometimes, Connection gets dropped and not able to forward port in their virtual server area. Also, I do not see any way to open or close port other than port forwarding in their firewall section.
HORRIBLE..HORRIBLE Customer service. I sent two email for their port forwarding issue and none of them were replied. I did get auto reply (off course it is automated reply so they do not have to spend money) but did not get any reply from thier customer service. I never had situation so far that some company did not reply at all. I am writing this review after waiting for 1 week for my reply since they auto reply says they will get back to us in 72 hours. Also, I saw so many bad review on belkin as a company customer service on net.
Bottom line is stay away from BELKIN products.

"PreN Router should be titled, "Constantly ReBooting Router"" | 2008-06-15 |

Unless you have lots of time on your hands do not purchase this router.. I never take the time to write these product reviews, good or bad. However, I feel an over whelming desire to warn the router purchasing consumer, I wish I had paid attention to the few reviews when I purchased my Pre-N Router 18 months ago. It requires constant rebooting. As time passes I reboot everytime I logon to the internet, then it started dropping while I was online. As I write this I am connected thru an unknown kind stranger in my neighborhood named Linksys, I am very grateful this person purchased a better router then I did. FYI, have contacted Belkin support by e-mail (no response), the last time my cable/internet provider did a 3 way with Belkin support. We were disconnected when the questions got very tuff and they lacked a proper response. I believe in finding a positive on any given situation, so here is the positive, Technical support speaks english very well. Thats it, that all I have..Good luck. |
