I am a college student, so this was a lot of money for me to drop on a coffee maker. I spent several days reading reviews on many coffeemakers. I decided I really wanted to get a thermal carafe and ended up deciding on the Braun. I am glad that I did. I think the built in water filter is cool, I will really decide when I have to buy a replacement in a month or so...I like the gold filter a lot, its easy to spray out in the sink. The carafe keeps coffee hot for quite some time, and I almost never pre-rinse with hot water, which will add at least an hour to the time. It brews quickly, but a timer would have been nice so I could wake up to already brewed coffee.

This coffee maker is attractive but I wonder if it ever went through any product testing before it hit the market. As other reviews have mentioned, I too find that this coffee maker doesn't get the water hot enough to brew a rich tasting pot of coffee. Additionally, the carafe may be thermal but it doesn't keep the coffee hot because it's not coming out of the machine hot enough. The pad that the carafe sits on doesn't offer any warming properties either. I've been very disappointed with this coffee maker ever since I bought it about 3 years ago. On the upside, it's not failing to disappoint me -- it keeps making my warm cups of coffee every day. I keep hoping one day it will break so I can replace it.

This coffee maker is perfect for the connoisseur! There is no burner, so your coffee stays the perfect temp. If you're going to be drinking it over the course of several hours, I'd recommend filling the carafe with warm water for a few minutes prior to brewing to ensure 4 hours later you still have hot coffee. Slow perk, is just the right amount of time to get the perfect cup - no waiting for 15 minutes, but not so quick it doesn't have time to filter through those luscious fresh ground beans!

I had mine since 06 and it still works great. The thermal pot keeps the coffee hot for at least 2-3 hours. Very happy with this coffeemaker.

Have now been using this coffemaker for about a month and we're very happy with it. The "real" capacity is three standard travel mugs, and the quality of the coffee made is excellent. Brew time is between 6-7 minutes, and the resulting coffee is flavorful and rich. The pot is a bit difficult to clean, but an occasional overnight soak with either dishwasher detergent or Oxyclean takes care of that. The carafe keeps a remaining cup of coffee warm for a few hours, a bit longer if you've pre-warmed the carafe, which to me seems quite reasonable.

Biggest concern at this time is the lifespan of the device - some of the parts are a bit complex, and it will be interesting to see how they wear over time. Replacement parts, and the slightly odd Britta filters, are available at a reasonable price from www.theessentials.com. I ordered filters there recently, they arrived promptly.

Finally, I wish Amazon had this item available via Prime. I ordered through an Amazon partner, and it took nearly two weeks to arrive, a long time when you're trying to replace a broken coffeepot!

After a lot of research, we thought the KF600 suited our needs the best. We did not want/need the bells & whistles (grinders, timers, etc.) on other models.

We did want a unit with a thermal carafe, one that was easy to fill w/ a readable gauge and one that didn't take too much space on the countertop.

It is true that the carafe is a bit small and may be more difficult to clean, but it works fine - - - better if pre-heated with hot water.

For the true coffee afficianado, the question of whether it heats the water to the optimum brewing temperature is probably valid. However, based on information from a well known cooking publication, the only unit to accomplish this costs three times as much. It is also very large and looks like a laboratory experiment.

The Braun is not a perfect machine, but, given the choices out there, it's pretty good and we are satisfied with the purchase.

This coffeemaker is the best electric I have encountered in my 35 years of coffee drinking.
1. Carafe does not spill or drip when loading or pouring.
2. Carafe keeps coffee hot, wide top makes cleaning easy - the machine pauses if you want a cup before it is done and shuts off automatically when it is done.
3. The basket is easy to load, unload and clean, the water reservoir is easy to use, the on/off switch is beautifully functional - German engineering at its best.
4. I have had one for over a year of steady use and it is still great.
5. I am buying them now as gifts.

I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't comment on that aspect of the coffeemaker, but I've not had any complaints. I purchased the Braun for the office. We were dissatisfied with our Krups mainly because the water gauge malfunctioned all the time so I did my due diligence and found this Braun to have the highest ratings in our price range. It seems to me, since I do most of the coffee making, to be the most user friendly machine we've ever had. My boss's only comment is that for him it is not as easy to pour from as the Krups carafe.

I am pretty happy with the Braun KF600. I bought it based on other reviews I read here on amazon.com. I like that it's easy to use and the fact that it comes with the thermal carafe. I also like that it came with an optional water filter. I put it in, but if I decide not to use it, I don't have to (just take it out and put in the plastic, mock filter).

I am a bit disappointed that it doesn't keep the coffee hot for longer and it shuts itself off only after about 10 minutes. Not a big deal because I can re-heat in the mircowave, but I was expecting the thermal carafe to make it so I didn't have to do that. It's kind of hard to clean inside the carafe because the opening is rather small. I have small hands too and my hand will get stuck. Again, not a huge problem. I just will have to buy a kitchen implement that will reach down inside. Also, make sure you don't keep it under a counter when you turn it on because steam comes out through the filter part pretty heavy. I'd almost forgotten about this. I've never had a coffee maker that did this and I have to say this is the most disappointing thing about the coffee maker. I'm used to keeping ours under the overhead cupboards but I can't do that anymore.

A no frills coffee maker that hopefully will last longer than our last one (the glass carafe was so thin that it kept breaking and the company would only replace it for free one time). It's not as wonderful as the reviews I read made it sound, but it's not bad either.

2 Star Rating  "My only issue is this DOES LEAK!"2008-08-05

I purchased this item at Macy's in 2006. I wanted a thermal carafe and a simple, functional, pretty design. This product delivered it all and I liked the bonus of filtered water. (You can easily find these filters at Bed, Bath, Beyond) Within a year, I noticed that water DOES LEAK from the base at times. At night I fill it up in order to just click it on in the morning. Sometimes, there is water all over my counter in the morning. That along with the fact that it does not make a full 10 cup pot...that if you fill it to 10 cups it WILL pour out the top after brewing. I can't believe Braun made such a thing! However, I still use it because it still works. I like the size/shape of it and that the carafe doesn't break and keeps coffee warm for many hours. It's really quite a lovely, ergonomic design! But I gotta say, I am VERY disappointed about the leaks (random) and misleading about brewing a full 10 cups. I would not buy this item unless I was guaranteed it wouldn't leak. Seems Braun didn't improve on it, so BEWARE!
